anyone got a 2007 mazda 6? disconnect battery, radio still work??

I need to disconnect my battery soon to take the dash out, do these 2007 mazda 6's with standard radio need a code to make them work again?? I don't have one.
reading the manual it says you can enter your own code by pressing the AUTO-M button with channel 6 button for 2 seconds then input a code using the 1-4 buttons then pressing AUTO-M and channel 6 buttons again and it saves the code.
does this work?? what if someone has already done this? can it change the code or am I stuffed and the radio will no longer work when I reconnect battery as I don't know the code??

Normally you can obtain the code for an original radio from your local dealer, the manufactures keep records of all the original codes, not sure what happens if someone has recoded it though, guess the dealer can reset it.

Try asking the same question at any Mazda forum. forum.mazda6club.com might be a good one. I've got a Mazda 3 and find Mazda4revolution forums very helpful.
