T- Rex with jalapenos and a Curved horn with mead 🙂

I dont know exactly did not make it past the headline but it appear they know what he ate and even how much of it.
And i am on the way out the door to spend unnecessary money as my chair collapsed under me a few days ago, so have to go spend money on a new and better chair / at least one that can carry 120 Kilos of angry gamer, or 150 KG of relaxed but XXXL Dane.
So that put a damper on my mood too as the chair that collapsed under me was just a couple of months old, but can not RMA it as it was a X mas present from some years back, but for sure i would rather have spent those money on other stuff.

I do not wish anyone to suffer, however those who have refused the vaccine should be left to suffer their fate on their own unassisted if they catch Covid 😒

There is nothing to be gained by wasting time and resources on the stupid except for promoting stupidity to continue unabated. They chose to risk death and disease so let them have an abundant harvest of what they have asked for.

👍

They just mapped the content of the Grauballe bog mans last meal, i mean down to the grain.

It is good to know my tax money fund such crucial science. 🙄

You don't believe the study of biological anthropology is worthwhile?

Personally, I find it remarkable that we now have the tools to study such a well preserved 2300 year old cadaver on that level. It gives us insight into many facets of human life during the iron age. The plants, foods, microorganisms and parasites in his gut provide a detailed window of what the world was like at that time along with understandings about cultural rituals and practices of the day. It's oddly like a kind of time travel.

It was taxpayer dollars that put a man on the moon, gave us the Hubble telescope, rovers on Mars and photos of Saturn and Jupiter. Government funding of science often accomplishes things that the private sector can't, or doesn't. That includes a lot of virology research.

They may have chosen to risk death, but they appear to have made that choice based on bad information. Who is to blame for that?

“They cry. And they tell me they didn’t know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn’t get as sick. They thought it was ‘just the flu’. But they were wrong. And they wish they could go back. But they can’t. So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives.”

At the start of this, the USA criticised China for attempting to silence Dr Li, but at least Dr Li was able to speak out,

Many of the patients now are younger than those in previous months; a nurse who works there told me she saw two cases of young children in one day. (The Atlantic agreed not to name the nurse, because, as a state employee, she is not authorized to speak with the media.) Even worse, though, is that almost every potential case she saw was avoidable. Almost none of the eligible adults she tested had had one of the vaccines.

I wouldn't have called any of those:
such crucial science. 🙄
, in fact I can't think of any real advantages of any of them other than general interest.

If the money had been spent on preventing climate change, or vaccine research instead then it would probably be much easier to see advantages, maybe even crucial ones.

In this case it is their own fault, as good info was and has been equally available. Were there only bad info known I'd have some sympathy.

The older I get the less tolerant I am of laziness and stupidity because there is never a need for it and there's never a valid excuse for it 😡

Sounds so typical of your usual snobbery, misanthropy and elitist ignorance, plus more of the jealousy and resentment you always have on display towards the USA, Nigel.

The technological and scientific benefits in many important fields that came out of the space program in the 1960s jump started entire industries and continue to benefit mankind today. These accomplishments were something the British government couldn't even imagine doing.

Typical of your ignorance is that without the observations and tools available from NASA space programs much of what is known about climate change or the weather today would not be available at all.

"Was able to speak out"? Who the bleep are you kidding?

On 3 January 2020, police from the Wuhan Public Security Bureau investigating the case interrogated Li, issued a formal written warning and censuring him for "publishing untrue statements about seven confirmed SARS cases at the Huanan Seafood Market." He was made to sign a letter of admonition promising not to do it again. The police warned him that any recalcitrant behavior would result in a prosecution.

NASA provides some climate change observations, but that has little to do with moon missions or interplanetary travel!

I think ESA is a bigger source of satellite based climate observations, they have been flying the Meteosat series of satellites since 1977.

Most climate observations are made from the ground or aircraft within the atmosphere, climate change and the ozone hole were both discovered this way, satellites and computers didn't exist in 1938 when climate change was first measured:

Getting men to the moon resulted in our modern day computers. Cramming the required electronics into a small space required innovation.

Do not forget about TANG thanks to the space program. The space races enduring legacy is seen in computers, cell phones, and so on.

Well it is clear what happen when people speak out, which others want to have remained silent, and i think often this have prompted some to go to extremes to keep others quiet.
Not that i am a huge fan of any whistle blowers out there right now, but i am often glad for some of the stuff they have revealed.
Here for instance a group called men in black have protested throughout this corona mess, generally catching little notice other then when "the man" moved against them, or from the usual looters and anarchists that join any "demo" just to create a mess.
So someone burning a doll with the PMs face on it ( lot of official flack ) and really effigies of politicians have often been used in this way, not really anything new here.
When a speaker at a rally said " are you ready to burn down Copenhagen in a peaceful manner" flak again rained down from official side.
And when i former special forces guy spoke at one of those rallies, well he is now branded ( by media ) as a armed and extremely dangerous agitator for revolt,,,,,, and granted a Danish frog man are probably more capable of doing something extreme VS say Mr and Ms Jensen in the suburbs.
But he never agitate for violence in any way, and he have not been arrested and he supposedly are not being investigated by either police or military intelligence.

In our history there was a event called "the storm on Copenhagen", but it was the Swedes that more or less taken the rest of the country and laid siege to the capitol,,,,,, fortunately the Dutch bailed us out, but it did cost us what is now the southern parts of Sweden.....
We Danes are expert loosers in our modern history, it was better in the older days where we was kicking ass and taking names.

Regarding NASA i dont think they would have gone anywhere if it wasent for a president being adamant about it,,,,, but granted those Apollo missions and what lead up to them did give our American friends a tech advantage and also a economical advantage,,,,,,, we can then debate how they since then managed those parameters.

It is not their charm and so on which made America the leader of the western world for such a long time, they came out of WW2 firing on all 8, and then for a long long time they did not look back but just stormed ahead.

Obviously, you want to initiate another one of your pointless ongoing petty arguments with me. It's been a few days since the last one you provoked, after all.

Let's roll this back a bit, shall we?

I made the comment:

It was taxpayer dollars that put a man on the moon, gave us the Hubble telescope, rovers on Mars and photos of Saturn and Jupiter. Government funding of science often accomplishes things that the private sector can't, or doesn't.

To which you replied with yet another one of your gratuitous, fatuous remarks.

in fact I can't think of any real advantages of any of them other than general interest.

You really believe or want us to believe that astronomy, planetary science, deep space observation and astrophysics on the scale as engaged in by NASA and top level international scientists all over the world is merely for "general interest"?

Get serious, why don't you!

That sounds about as ridiculous an allegation as your claim that Dr. Li Wenliang who first tried to raise awareness of early COVID infections in China "was able to speak out".

Now you want to shift to another ridiculous argument about whether or not NASA really has been instrumental in developing the kind of vital space based earth science observations they pioneered and whether or not this has anything to do with climate change studies or space, or planetary exploration as a whole. Well, it does, but that is besides the point. Many of the same techniques and technologies for observing and studying other planets are used to observe and study the earth and this work is indeed "crucial".

And FYI, NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has a long and storied history of using
traditional and experimental research aircraft for earth observations and atmospheric observations along with their space based platforms.

Remember Nigel, the original discussion was about whether "tax money is funding such crucial science". It does and it is, but these things get lost when you indulge in these manufactured tangential, irrelevant spats.

As I have repeatedly attempted to point out you seem to habitually have nothing better to do with your time than to engage in these lengthy, ongoing petty pissing matches where your style of argument is to keep changing the subject for the purpose of trolly argumentation and really nothing more, especially when you don't have a counter argument to the original remarks.

Each time you do this it simply becomes more and more pointless and tedious, not only for me, but I suspect for everyone else reading this.

That after / side effect of corona called Mucormycosis / Black fungus is really reeking havoc in India ATM, as a result of the health system not being aware of this possible side effect.

Thats some nasty,,,, stuff.

Also a new side affect ( Guillain-Barré syndrome ) is added today to the J&J vaccine, but it is like 100 out of 21 millions vaccinated, but still something new to look out for.

As always. Be mindful, be smart, be good.

Disaster for Australia and New Zealand!

"The tournament organisers have moved heaven and earth to make this work, so it is not an easy decision, but the COVID-19 situation in the UK shows no sign of improving, and it's simply too unsafe to send teams and staff over," he said.

According to UK government figures, almost 70 per cent of adult Britons are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and a tick under 90 per cent have received at least one dose. The country is also opening up, having recently celebrated "Freedom Day", although they are still seeing tens of thousands of cases a day. Neither Australia or New Zealand are anywhere near seeing the majority of their populations vaccinated.

Seems that they can't vaccinate their players before November?

I'm sure they could, jetting off for month long sporting tours is perhaps not something people find palatable when the average Joe here is having trouble accessing vaccines though

The result of England's Freedom Day, the lifting of almost all covid restrictions and masks becoming personal choice - an instant change from rising cases to falling cases 😎 :

Oh great, It was "down" to 40,000 new cases yesterday.

And from the same article purporting to show that things are 'cool' the following:

" ...the statistics do not capture the impact of unlocking that happened on 19 July."

"...this may just be a temporary slowing in reports before we start to see a return to exponential growth towards the end of next week as a result of the ending of restrictions last week."

"...data from the Office for National Statistics based on swab tests in the community suggests 1.3% of the population - or one in 80 people - has the virus, up from one in 100 the week before.

.....
  • one in 75 people have the virus in England - compared to one in 95 the week before
  • in Scotland it is one in 80 - compared to one in 90 the week before
  • in Wales it is one in 210 - compared to one in 360 previously
  • in Northern Ireland it is one in 170 - compared to one in 290"
