G1W Novatek 96650 WDR F1.6 H.264 MOV 15Mbps GPS Dash Cam DVR

Its interessting to see how different places to buy, send different cameras. Cause this G1W was very different to mine i got. The one in the Video looked a bit more cheap than mine. The box, suction cup, the firmware, etc.
But its interessting :3

Yet another recommendation not to use Class 10 cards in this unit!

Gurkha9, was this reply in response to the problem I am having with my G1W not turning on? Are you saying class 10 cards will kill the camera, because I am/was using a class 10.

Reply was based on post above mine (in Techmoan's review he said his G1W did not work with Class 10 cards but were ok with Class 4&6).
Some people have had sucess with Class 10 cards in the G1W. You have to keep in mind that there are at least 3 versions of this camera produced by different factories, maybe more, so YMMV.
In addition, I've had issues using a Class 10 UHS-1 in my GT300W, so no harm in trying out a Class 4.

Mine samsung 32Gb Class 10 working perfect in G1W, I think the problem is only with sundisk cards

I just got my G1W, and I bought an Adata 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 Micro SDXC card and it works with my cam. I didn't format my card, and it's default using exFAT format. My cam's firmware is 2013.1017.

Here is the box from my G1W from Estore

I would maybe contact the seller first and see what they say. Shipping back can sometimes cost as much as you paid for the camera in the first place if the seller wants it back at a high shipping cost it might be cheaper to give a transcend card a try. Maybe a friend or family member has one in a smart phone you could barrow first?

I have left my G1W in a car for the past few nights and last time i checked everything seemed okay with the transcend card.

I just bought the G1W DVR from Amazon.com thru Spy Tec. I received mine without the HDMI cable and it came in an orange box stamp Black Box. The instruction is nicely printed with orange color.

Received my Black G1W from estore today. Ordered on Dec. 9 and it came with F/W 2013.05237.01. It came in an orange box labeled black box, with a nice orange instruction manual. Haven't had time to test it out yet. I was hoping to get one with the new F/W.

Yea it's strange. I have a feeling that estore did got a new stock (As she said) But they still send the cameras with older firmware, BUT newer supplies. Like the new suction cup, better, even colored manual, and different box

I was hoping to get one with the new F/W.

Me too, but after I tested, I'm very satisfied with build quality and all cam function

Anyone tried a different mount like the non suction type ball joints like dod ones?

Duke

I just received 2 of the black G1W via estore009 (ordered Dec 19, arrived in Nashville, TN 8 days later) and have included a photo of the package and the English pages of the included manual. Firmware was 2013.05237.01 with a Green welcome screen. The small printed manual has color images and is written in Chinese, English and Russian. A white sticker on the outside of the box identifies itself as P1309B G1W, and a brief spec. on another face of the box says the "main chip" is an NT96650. Note that there is no socket for external GPS nor does this model have internal GPS. The item was exactly as described in their eBay ad.

The battery runs for about 8 minutes after power is cutoff, and the screen cannot shutoff less than 3 minutes after startup. I have no problems with the USB port being loose and it seems this hardware issue has been resolved on my units. The SD card took a bit of effort to push in place, but it seems quite secure. Unlike other videos I have seen online, the date and time stamp appears at the bottom left of screen for this camera/firmware combination.

For a clean 8GB card the camera reports the following recording capacities (hr:min:sec)
1080FHD - 1:19:01, 720p (60fps or 30fps) - 2:14:30, WVGA or VGA - 3:56:55

The camera appears to be the real thing as I used VLC media player and got the following info for a 1080FHD recorded video:
Frame Width: 1920, Frame Height: 1080, Frame Rate: 30 fames/second

The audio is an acceptable 512kbps/32kHz mono stream, but it does have a distracting low frequency "bfff" sound that repeats every second or so, which seems to desensitize the sound recording somewhat. Recording cabin sounds and your commentary is an important adjunct to video evidence, both before and after an incident, so this defect is a little annoying although I'm sure it could be easily resolved with a firmware update.

I got the same as you. And yes. I recognized that too. My USB Plug wasnt loose.

Seems like they fixed it on this camera.

Well the first G1W I had only lasted 2 weeks and the seller, estore009, sent me another one which arrived tonight. It came in the orange box with firmware 2013.05237.01. My first G1W had come in the grey box with the latest firmware.

I won't have a chance to mount/try it until later this week, so here's hoping this one will last a long time. Estore009 asked me to send the bad one back as well and I hope they will be able to tell me what went wrong with that unit.

The 2006 vehicle the G1W was in previously, also had a Livue LB100 which only lasted 4 months. My other 2 vehicles, a 1964 and 1978, have Livue LB100s that are still working and bought at the same time as the other Livue. I'm wondering if the 2006, with all its electronics, is messing up the dash-cams. Or are the unit's batteries going bad that they won't even turn on?

Would it be wise to hardwire the G1W and have it running all the time?
