Innovv C3 with Remote Lens. With exchangable Wide and Narrow FOV lens

@willy510, again, your wide variety of skills makes your testing on C3 has been catching people's much interesting,
You the best present what C3 can do, and people are looking forward what you will do next. ;)

  1. You built gun by yourself?
  2. Seems like you live in Spain, where is free to own gun like US?
Yes I built many of them. many use parts from a UK factory - where I was trained as a Gunsmith.
They are AIRGUNS but some use specialised ammunition I have to make by hand.
They fire solid lead slugs that are really subsonic bullets rather than normal airgun pellets. Special barrels.

I am in Spain - but no it's NOT like the USA. You can own firearms but need a licence.
It's not that hard to get a licence but my wife would rather I did not have firearms. But she's fine with airguns.
Two of those are her guns that I made for her. There is a legal power limit of 24,2 Joules.

When I want to shoot firearms - I have enough friends with licences. ;)

My FX cyclone is 20-30-45 joules / 14-24-34 ft/lbs, i mostly shoot on the low setting with the lightest JSB pellets, om MAX setting i use the heavy JSB pellets 5.52 mm ( not the super heavy ones )

Only 4.5 mm is legal here now, and so far with no Joules cap on them, would like a bullpup design gun, but do not like the ones on the marked now.

Need acess to lathe and milling machine, then i could do my own.

There is 3 ways to get a real firearm here.

1. get a hunting licence and you can by as many shotguns and rifles in all calibers, even a 600 nitro Express or simmilar is okay.
Only 3 bullets allowed in shotguns, so a pump or semi is pretty tame here, and offcourse no Saiga style shottys here, dont even thing 00 buck and slugs are allowed here.
And offcourse you cant have full auto rifles or millitary styled rifles either, just hunting rifles.
2. join a shooting Club, after a couple of years of active membership you can get permit to buy a rifle or pistol for whatever distance you shoot, there is some calibers for pistol witch now is off limit, and it may be the same with rifle, we do not have super long range here, max is 200 M witch i was shooting at age 11 in 1977.
3. buy what you want on the black marked, you can get what you want if you have the mony and contacts, from RPG to a peashooter.

I wanted to do my turn in the armed forces, after i finished my education as a machine worker, as a gun Smith apprentice, but as bad luck wanted it the Danish armed forces did not want anything at all to do with me.
I assume they had me pinned as a Russian spy or at least a commie like my fater was/is.

The yanks was much nicer to me,when i was sailing i had visa stamps in my passport so i could come and go in the US as i pleased, that have most likely changed since 9/11.

Build one. Freddy's guns are pretty simple to convert. What about 4.37mm (.17)? - get a .17 rimfire barrel blank from Walther - swage nice 18.5 grain slugs (round head with a rebated boat tail) and aim for 1000fps (just subsonic). Can be done.

I'm looking for a bicycle camera and this product looks better than a lot of specialized bicycle cameras even though it is designed for motorcycles. Good job! I will probably get a pair of these for my car as well. It would be awesome if you offered a 170-degree field of view lens for bicycle use.

The idea of C3 came from people, we just make it happen.
People told us I like this but I wish that, we got comments together and did the new development.

C3 is a good example on innovation.

The current narrow and wide of lens angle are the result of study for people' need. but we always do our best to meet people' need, if 20 people said hi I need 170 degree lens, we will make it happen no matter the cost!

If i needed a 170 degree lens, it should be the expensive ones from Carl zeiss, witch fitted to sony actioncams claim to be distorsion free ( fisheye )

90 degree would be fine for me, or if need be the 120 degree lens.

To be honest i think the very edge of the footage from my lukas camera is worthless, and i have yet to see any internet footage witch is only viable due to a ultra wide lens beeing used.

Things tend to happen either in front or direktely behind cars, unless offcourse if the car get T-boned, but in that case even a ultra wide front lens would only be useable if the offender allready is at the side of the road and then slowly pull out into the car and hit the side of it.
The car comming at speed from a side road and into the side of a car will most likely not be captured on the front wide angle camera. only in case of the overview of the side road is clear and have no buildings or other stuff blocking view before the intersection / side road.

I think a dashcam dont need to capture everything, it just need to prove that the car where the camera is was driven in accordance with the law, and therfore the blame must fall on the other car in the crash. ( this is allso why i do like the cameras witch log pedal movement and use of indicators and so on )

Guys, i've just found out why the raw videos look "jumpy": While the video is 30fps, every frame is duplicated, so it basically contains only 15 different frames/sec. Maybe it's just a firmware flaw...

Hey Mad823,

Thank you for your reply. I know when I look at those videos they just look a little weird to me that the picture quality looks great but frame to frame it doesn't look that smooth. However as rockthinking has pointed out, the video is indeed at 30fps. But how did you find out the duplicate image thing? did you have a tool or software?

freeware - VLC media player - In the view menu select Advanced controls and it it give you a frame by frame button with red arrow in it just above the regular controls on the bottom of the frame

OR, with VLC media player, click pause (if the video is playing) and then press e on your keyboard. This will advance the movie frame by frame. Each frame should slow a slight difference. If it doesn't, there's a dropped frame.
If you use Avidemux you can single click forwards AND backwards. According to the VLC developers, it's not possible to reverse single clip with VLC because of technical reasons .
All clips made with the C3 that I have seen so far have a true frame rate of 15fps, i.e. 30fps with 50% dropped frames. This may be a problem with youtube and is a reason I like to have the possibility to download original material. If it's a FW bug I'm sure it will be corrected by the time the C3 is officially released.

Watching raw Innovv C1 videos I dont see the same problem, those videos look true 30 fps. If C1 and C3 hardware are the same, it must be a firmware issue, I guess.

I've never seen the problem in any video material from the C1 or C2. Could it have something to do with the HDMI communication or just a simple FW glitch?

C1 videos are true 30fps and the C3 720p 60fps are true 60fps, no duplicates in them so it looks to be a pre-production FW glitch, I'm sure that Rock will have it updated and fixed shortly :)

Below is C3 video file data

Regarding FPS, I did check on VLC and its true: two clicks ( frame by frame ) moves 1 frame forward, so it was weird for me. Probably something to do with HDMI as @Isoprop mentioned ?

I went into AVS Video Editor and checked there in more details, because there you can stretch time-line up to 0.001 sec.
On AVS I was able to count 15 double-frames within 1 sec.

Just in case I made few other tests as well to compare results.

C3 Day and Night = 15 x double frames

For me strange was C1 and C2 Day vs Night FPS

Night: c1 and C2 = 23fps

Day: C1 & C2 = 27Fps

Mobius ( MOV ) = 27Fps

Mini 0803 ( MOV ) = 27Fps

Panorama 2 ( AVI ) = 27Fps

27fps seems a bit of a weird number - I've just checked some footage I have here from the Mobius and I'm getting 30fps though (ie 30x the e key in VLC is a second or 30x the n key in RV) - is that where you're seeing 27fps?

I wonder if maybe the night footage is slowed down to keep the exposure longer for each frame and to make it slightly brighter?

The part that makes me think that it is FW related is that the C3 720p 60fps mode does not duplicate any frames and does record 60 fps.

From what I've been able to research, frame rates on cameras can vary with lighting conditions- slower with less light sometimes
