Mobius footage - close calls and accidents. Post your videos.

I actually had dash cam since -11 beginning with the 808 #3, I choosed some of what I published, some scary, some annoying, and a happy video.
I hope you don't mind, it's 22 videos, all driving my -97 Skoda Felicia except 3.

For reference, my 808 #11 720p with a fish eye lens.

This crazy person actually starts passing uphill.

Out testing my new subwoofer to the limit (we know how sensitive mobius microphone is),
Making the jailbaits dance, making my day, ompf ompf...

Tailgating me and they both wanted to pass at the same time?

Merge before mering zone ends, not after.

Blind person driving the bus?

Tailgaters punishment, I had no problems with the road accelerating quite hard.

I always assume the other drivers are morons, she actually signaled right turn.

This guy tailgates hard, I yield for a bus and he almost hits my ass, I do a quick brake check
and he goes mental, passing me and slows down in oncoming lane to look at me and then slam his
brakes in front of me, I suppose I did not look scary to him? So he turned into a bully.
I wrote a email to the company owning the car, providing the link to the video.
(I usually never "brake check" its my neck if I get a whiplash being hit from behind).

The LAW says; yield for pedestrians at marked crossings.

Braking late and hard, scaring me. And the next one does not brake at all.

I'm not driving this road anymore because of this, she stops to apologize,
I tell her to keep to her side FFS!

I'm signalling left turn, yet she seems to **** her pants when I honk my horn.

Yield for traffic from the right is standard by law if there is no signs or signals saying anything else.
But this one is sleeping behind the wheel, no reaction to my horn at all, I had to lock up my brakes.

This tailgater scared me and he did not pass so I signalled right and waved him by.

This curious old fart was too lazy to walk just a small bit so he could park safe.
And he also blocks the road exactly opposite his car, I yelled at him to move. No respons. Duh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilAhgkMDmbY&list=UU2kfzf9J76NEMB0xNdnOQsA

Yeah, I always have half an eye in the mirror, it could save a life not having to slow down.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANH7vn5v3kI&list=UU2kfzf9J76NEMB0xNdnOQsA

I dont understand, I'm clearly visible, why do he start to back up??? And why does he honk at me??????
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FziYRig9po&list=UU2kfzf9J76NEMB0xNdnOQsA

I was driving a safety car, strobing lights, sign saying WIDE LOAD, yet this woman had such a hurry
she almost rammed me and forced her way through. 320x240 with my phone.

I'm being tailgated by a BMW, we are both being passed by the SUV speeding hard.
Then the BMW passes me in a blind bend and all, speeding hard. Whats wrong with these people???
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf7_hCoGHLc&list=UU2kfzf9J76NEMB0xNdnOQsA

In this one I'm driving a DSM, I see in the mirror how these 2 cars drives side by side
just before passing me, and I actually just passed a cyclist. I'm actually fearing for my life when I see it.
They continue to play on the road so I speed up to get their plates if they cause a accident.

Cutting lanes like a horse on drugs? Being reported via facebook to the owners of the car.

It's amazing how stupid and dangerous some people are. This one likes berries so much she could not even park in a safe location, she had to have her berries NOW. Risking other peoples lifes.

Speed limit here is 43 Miles per hour. 70kph.

100m or so earlier, and she could have parked in the field entrance off the road.:)

Keep a look out for the car in front right on the A406. It seems like that he was unaware that he needed to leave the A406 until very late and was about 10 metres before the barrier separating the slip road and the main road. He yanked his wheels to the left, through the chevron markings. Pretty dangerous as his car could have flew into the air using the start of the crash barrier as a launch ramp and cause a major accident!

Sorry, Mobius is at an angle as I didn't realise it had partially fallen from its mount.

WTF is wrong with these people? How hard is it to follow the lanes?

Blimey - looking at the lights they were green so was it the guy turning left who was at fault? Never quite sure what the rules are over there!

@BobDiaz, thanks for sharing the video. What happened after the crash? Did you pull over to help out, check out your car (your car was not impacted, right?), provide a witness statement to the police (and/or volunteer your video?), etc.? I've thought about how dashcam video could be useful if I'm in an accident, but this is a good reminder to me that it could be useful even if I'm not the one involved.

@reverend, judging from I see, yes, it was left turn guy's fault, since oncoming traffic had the green light to go straight. So at best, left turn guy could only have had the same green light to go straight, which means he has to yield to oncoming traffic if he's trying to turn left. If left turn guy had a "protected green" (one specifically with a left arrow), he would have been fine, but then, oncoming traffic would have been red.

There were a number of people who saw the accident. The guy turning left is at fault, because the car going straight had a green light, the person turning left either didn't seem him or was in too big a rush to think straight. I pulled over and called the El Camino College Police to report the accident and they arrived shortly there after. Because it was on the college side of the street, the College Police have authority. The Gardena Police also showed up; however it was not on their side of the street and not within their area. The good news is that it appeared that everyone was OK, but Medical arrived just in case. The wide angle of the Mobius distorts the image making the car appear father away than it really was. While the oncoming car was coming my direction just after the crash, thankfully the car didn't hit me, but items from the crash were all over the street. I'll stop by the El Camino PD today to offer a copy of the video, but because this is a clear cut case with many eye witnesses, they may not want the video.

I figured they were at fault but I know there are some quirks like you can turn right on red which you can't do over here. I'll have to get them all figured out by the time I come over there for a cross country :)

Good news that they're all well

Hey Bob, doesn't the video show some of those "eye witnesses" quickly walking off in the other direction? (On the right hand side of the frame as you're turning; it looks like they were planning on crossing that way but then quickly change their mind?)

Typical of people these days - pretend you don't see anything and walk off....

You would be amazed at just how unreliable eyewitnesses actually are.
Some eyewitnesses will even 'bend' their story to favour a side simply because of external factors (the driver in the wrong might be a stunning woman, might talk with a better accent (posh, money, influential, business leader etc))
Over the years I've been on a great many courses & I sometimes wondered if I was actually hearing the same things as others in the room - when they 'repeat' something the tutor 'said'.

Your video will be the best witness the police can have, the human story might confuse.

We got some new traffic lights forced upon us. It's amazing how many drivers assume right of way because they have a green light yet completely forget that they are turning across oncoming traffic (who also have a green!) There have been some incredible wrecks left at the side of the road.

Sorry about the salty language, this one came as a surprise. Just watch the left side of the screen at 1:55.

Bob Diaz
Hi Bob,

Great footage and you did the right thing, ooh and I love your choice of music (Dire Straits). :D

The 2 women at the corner did not walk off. By the time I parked my car and walked over, they were still there. I took a copy of the footage to the El Camino PD and found that they had no interest in the video.

The Police won't have any interest unless there was serious injury, or a fatality. The only interested party at this point would be the person who was hit, and their insurance company.

I don't quite understand the point of turning left when there is a traffic coming from the other direction. You're supposed to let everyone pass first then turn left. Quite stupid because you're blocking everyone behind you too. If there is a heavy traffic from the opposite direction only the first guy waiting in the middle of the intersection will make the turn left.
Here it doesn't happen. The lights set up so you don't cross anyones green light. Green light means you're good to go, don't need to worry about anyone (unless driving through a red light), and everyone makes the turn. + safer.

The traffic light at that intersection does have a green left turn arrow where you can safely turn left. However, after that the light turns to a yield green light. The idea is that you let all traffic pass and the way must be clear before you turn left. In watching the video, it appears that the first guy had time to turn left, but the second guy blindly turned left without looking.

According to Google Earth the GPS Location of the crash is: 33°53'14.76"N 118°19'35.75"W

The car the was turning left was heading North and making a turn to the West. The car that had the right away and that hit him was going South. My car was on the southwest corner pointing East and about to turn right (go South).

On a side note, from Google Street View, you can see that anyone in an accident at this intersection can look up afterwards and see they crashed in front of this:

How convenient!

Here's a collection from last month, here in Scotland.

Nobody dies, nobody even crashes, but there's plenty of examples of bad driving.

Enjoy
