My brand new SG9665GC V3 is not performing as expected!

And one more thing: upload untouched files.
You may set 1 minute for every clips. Dont use any software, it may affect to quality.

Ok, windshield cleaned, now with automotive glass cleaner (without ammonia) both inside and outside. This glass has never been so clean. Unfortunately it was a bit raining today, but i decided to drive anyway.
Here come the samples:

If it comes to flares:
It looks better but when I drive to the crossroads with lights the flares seem still to be huge, I would say. What do you think?
Definitely need a test without rain to have the same comparison base and putting camera outside the car for a while. Maybe tomorrow.

If it comes to overall video quality:
Need a test without rain as well. But what I was wondering (after having watched day videos as well) if this overall quality is not an affected by camera being out of focus. See the day video:

and some snapshots:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0tEj0TLN22MWGFlT1k5SGhsUzQ/view?usp=sharing standing still. Don't look at passing cars, rather at signs and buildings.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0tEj0TLN22MRFlvVjVWWE5ES3c/view?usp=sharing standing still.

When I drive close to an object it is very sharp, but objects bit far away lose quite much of focus. What do you think?

Either the windshield is still smeared or has a lot of micro scratches on the outside. Cleaning the windshield from the inside is a lot trickier than it may seem. While cleaning the inside, both the inside and outside needs observation at every angle possible to identify residual smears.

about this picture:

Sorry but i have to tell you: you expect to much.
only 1080 pixel width, and the number place is so small. Even my DSLR cant take a footage which would capture the number plate at this range.
And my DSLR is so much expensive than a dashcam: maybe 10 times.
And even you choice a 1440p dashcam, it cant capture this number place like this picture too.

I wasn't particulary looking at the plates, I was rather seeing trees, building and the car itself little blurry, which could make me think that at night the overall video quality is poorer comparing to other units.
Don't get me wrong. It is my first dashcam and I am quite happy about this StreetGuardian. I just want to make sure I have unit that operates correctly.

That's interesting comparison... challenge accepted ;)
My DSLR is only 2 times more expensive than dashcam... but it is all about the lenses not the body ;). See results:

Metadata stated below each photo.
i also included photo from Xperia Z3 for widen comparison. To my best experience i can see the dashcam snapshot is blurry, not mentioning the plates. What do you think?

Anyway, let's get back to the dash cam itself. If I expect too much I am fine with it, just trying to make sure my unit is operating as it should.
It started raining late evening today so couldn't do the night test. Hopefully tomorrow.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges, any half decent camera should be able to take a better photo than a screen shot from a video taken from a dashcam with a 2mp sensor
I fully agree.
Is the snapshot from dashcam something that I should expect in terms of quality? I have no comparison, never had a dashcam before.

this is my first DSLR too. Still learning how to use this :D

This is photo. My DSLR can't record.
True. Video and photo will differ.

Sad to say Leszek, but image from Streetguardian cam is garbage.

Haters are gonna hate no matter what :D

I noticed camera has better performance in the morning and worse (less focus) in the evening when temperature was higher.

I read about similar experience here: first week with SG9665GC some questions
this is how you should do:
in the same spot, diffirent time, no sunlight direct on footages (all in shadow), no windsheild (remove from windsheild), hold camera for 10 second, then compare two picture.
i think your footage is fine. I may dont have many exp in DSLR but i have quite alot of these with dashcam. :)

Image quality, focus seem to be changing depends on temperature. It is not acceptable in 200Euro dashcam.

I am not 100% sure yet but I am optimistic that the following might be a workaround. While parked in direct sun I blocked the lens (Kleenex will do) - when starting the recording 6h later, sharpness was about 80-90% of what I would expect from a 200EUR camera (and what it actually delivers in special operating conditions). Monday is supposed to be a 30degC day again - will report in the other thread in case it works (or not).
