The dotted red lines went away a few versions ago I need to update the manual again. You can still touch the screen though.

I touch anywhere on screen but nothing happens. The recording time counter stills increasing beside a circle, both in red color.

My mistake, you have to touch the gear icon to stop the current recording in progress. When you exit settings record happens automatically.
