Great! Earlier versions can contain more interesting things. Would you please dump its FW with the backup script?

Thanks... completely new company cst179s_sdv-eng 4.2.2, does your HDMI out work?

I don't have the cable, so I didn't check whether the HDMI out working or not.

BTW, I uploaded a video containing a couple of clips taken using the XDV camera at 1080p60.

Edit: Is there anything you can do to the firmware to get the camera working a little bit better?

heh, you made me try it on my main monitor and it works there... dunno if it was the monitor I was using or the fw version before.

Yea, you can try my images, they should work with your camera. Here is what it looks like... but yea perfect lighting. Also some new stuff with gop is done but I'm testing it some more before I post another image.

I just need to download full_img.fex from first post, right? That video looks great.

preferably download the compressors pack and flash with phoenix suite. you can put any full_img.fex (including your backup) inside the extracted image. pack it and it will be flashed.

Ok, I'll try the *latest* ones.

BTW, I'm reading old posts & I'm now at frame doubling discussion. I'm having difficulty understanding this. Basically if two frames in consecutive are the same frame then the video is frame doubling, right?

How do you get the lens moving to adjust focus? Mine seems superglued. The lens portion is what moves or that ring below?

The one the threaded piece goes into. I only got the top ring around the glass to move. I can take that lens all the way out. When I screw it down there is not much difference in focus. The other lens assembly on the longer threaded piece won't move.... It finally moved. It was glued all the way around with super glue.

I found a great guide: http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/SJCAM-SJ4000-Action-Camera-Lens-Replacement-Guide/

Possible to buy a higher quality lens?

Yeah, it is glued around the threaded section. I follow the YI camera lens focus fix guide at youtube. My camera did not focus properly on the right side. Objects on the right side blurry which is very noticeable. When I fixed that, the objects in the middle will blurry little bit but not too much. If I get objects in the middle in focus, object on the right side will blurry too much.

BTW, I tried both of your *latest*-labelled firmware & I got white screen only. I got same result whether I flash using Phoenixsuit or using full_img.fex extracted from the image. Flashing using PhoenixSuit only take 54 seconds with indicator at 10% but the message pop up said it was successful, while full_img.fex (flash in the Firmware Information window) take longer time to finish. The camera seems working though but the screen is white. It can take video based on the led indicator blinking. I didn't check the content of sd card yet. I managed to blind flash the original firmware back. Fortunately I remember how to navigate to Firmware Information window.

Then you have a different screen. You would need to hex edit my rootfs into your full_img and then flash. It starts with hsqs, for all this stuff paste overwrite so it doesn't change the file size. Flashing takes longer with the FW hence I use phoenix suite, like 2x longer for me at least.

When I de-focused my lens I saw that it has some defects which is why it had blurry spots like yours. Hopefully a new lens would fix it.. but do I spend the $10?

I did up your image like that, hopefully it boots ok: http://www.mediafire.com/download/n1eqw9717b4f519/full_img_XDV16_MOD.7z

Actually if it runs it should have the fruit of today's labor.
