Troubleshooting 70mai A810 (T800E) 4G Hardwire Kit – Persistent Flashing Red Light (Kena Mobile SIM)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with my 70mai 4K Dash Cam (A810/T800E) setup. I live in Milan, Italy, and I’m having trouble getting the 4G remote monitoring to work.

The Setup:

  • Camera: 70mai A810.
  • Hardwire Kit: 70mai 4G Hardwire Kit (UP04).
  • Installation: Done by a professional auto electrician.
  • Status: Basic functions work perfectly. It records in parking mode, and I can connect via the local Wi-Fi hotspot to view footage.
The Issue:I recently bought a Kena Mobile SIM (TIM network, Italy) to enable remote monitoring. Despite my efforts, I cannot get a 4G connection. The LED on the 4G Hardwire Kit flashes red, while the manual/tutorials indicate it should turn solid green once connected.

What I’ve tried so far:

  1. SIM Prep: Inserted the SIM into a smartphone first. I disabled the PIN code, verified that data/roaming works, and tested the APN.
  2. APN Settings: I tried both the default TIM APN and the specific Kena Mobile APN (web.kenamobile.it).
  3. Connectivity: When I start the car, the dashcam still only works via the local hotspot; the 4G remote features remain inactive in the app.
My Questions:

  • SIM Compatibility: Could the issue be that it’s a "Voice + Data" SIM rather than a "Data-only" IoT SIM?
  • Installation: Is it possible the kit is wired incorrectly, even though the parking surveillance mode is working fine?
  • APN/Settings: Are there any specific settings I might be missing within the 70mai app to "force" the 4G activation?
  • 5G SIM in 4G Hardware: The SIM is a 5G-enabled card. Could this cause handshake issues with the 70mai 4G modem?
I've been trying to fix this for a week with no luck. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Before you go any further check that the dashcam you have supports the up04
The T800E I couldn't find any proof that it is supported. It doesn't support Battery Voltage Monitoring which is a feature of the up04
The A810 depends on the exact model you have. The A810 says it does support it.
  1. Sim compatibility
    1. May be but I have a voice and data sim and it works
  2. Installation
    1. If the surveillance mode is working then I presume the Acc wire is connected correctly.
  3. APN settings
    1. I didn't add an APN I just let it do it itself. Important note - My sim and up04 failed 3 times. I turned everything off and tried again and it worked.

  4. 5G SIM in up04 works. I have a 5G SIM in my up04 and it is working fine so I don't think that is the problem.
What is important is you get a flashing green light.
If you see a flashing green light I am pretty sure that it means the up04 is talking to the internet (ISP) then it only needs the dashcam to bind to the up04.

I wonder if the SIM has to be recognised by the Telco before it will allow anything further to happen. Rebooting everything a couple of times might be enough to force the Telco and up04 to handshake.
