Could be a Christmas present to introduce a friend or relative to the benefits of dashcam ownership?

feel sorry for the supplier when they get them back a year or so down the track when the batteries fail

Agreed, though the customer should be ok. I think Aldi in the UK has a reasonable reputation for honouring warranty claims.

Fail a year or so down the track because they're cheap, or fail a year or so down the track because that's what most batteries do?

What is the infrared receiver for?

the battery won't see out three years so it's going to cost the supplier, Aldi don't gamble with their own money, the suppliers have to take it back for credit

What battery? Permanently connected to 12V, includes an auto start/stop system.

It reminds me Mio design, or also HP uses similar one. I have seen this "infrared" before.

Not quite "bashing", but frustrating not to have full review or even specs overview.
" Cat in a bag", but at a price- regardless of quality good buy... or is it?

people will buy and try regardless, it's Aldi, if you don't like take it back and get your money back

8gb card "-£5.00" makes it £25 DashCam
Even people like myself who drive using the other side of the car don't have to convert to USD to know what this means.

:D
"Rat in a bag" for the wrong side of the car users?

Cheap dashcam is better than no cam. It's a good magnet to bring people to dashcam-world. 1st they buy cr_p, after some time most of self-respected buyers want to upgrade for better ones. In many cases they find DCT and we will help them out to get best for their budget and needs. Its all matter of time.
