Agreed, though the customer should be ok. I think Aldi in the UK has a reasonable reputation for honouring warranty claims.

the battery won't see out three years so it's going to cost the supplier, Aldi don't gamble with their own money, the suppliers have to take it back for credit

Cheap dashcam is better than no cam. It's a good magnet to bring people to dashcam-world. 1st they buy cr_p, after some time most of self-respected buyers want to upgrade for better ones.
