V2.0 Firmware for Public Testing

You may be right about the power thing, maybe the HK6 is adversely affecting things.

My concerns about beta versions doesn't seem to be justified in this case as I haven't read any real problems with V.2.0. 🤞

If I do u/g I reckon I'll use the car charger, then report back.

Like you, I have always been leery of Beta anything and held off on this update. Eventually, the folks who seemed to be
having issues with new firmware were satisfied with it, and that's when I decided to try it.

FWIW - I upgraded the Android APP and the dash cam Firmware at the same time as it appears there are some features
of cam FW that can only be accessed via the new, Beta, APP.

And it's been about 2 weeks now, both the Android APP and the cam FW have worked without any issues seen by me. 👍

I bit the bullet! F/w updated first time using the car charger lead.

Obviously, all the settings needed redoing but that went without issue.

I haven't driven with it yet, that'll be tomorrow, but so far so good. 🤞

Seems the power lead is the key.

One thing I did notice, geofencing. I set zone 1 in my garage (don't need a cam in there!) and as soon as I switched the ignition off the camera powered down too. That's what I wanted 🙂

More testing to do on the road.
Hopefully not speaking too soon but... looking good.

Re the app, I wondered about that also. In view of your experience I'll probably download that too in the next day or so.

Where is GeoFencing? I have the Viofo A329S 3CH (F/C/R) with Firmware A329S_V2.0_251027 I think,
the latest version I could find, and I cannot locate the option for GeoFencing on the main cam
screen or through the Android app, Beta version.

Based on what I can find here and on Viofo's site It looks like it should show up in the "Parking Mode"
menu, not there, or anywhere else I have looked.

Anyone?

It's in the parking mode options, one of the last menu options in that submenu.

Thanks @Vortex Radar 😉

I did not find it under "Parking Mode". I found it under "Parking Recording" which is under "Parking Mode".
I wasn't expecting it there.

Hi. I would like to suggest another setting for the v2.0 beta firmware - specifically for the internal IR LEDs. Currently, I have it set on Auto mode and it works fine, but can we add another setting where we can disable the IR LEDs during parking mode? I can currently disable the internal camera LEDs during parking mode and not the IR.

This feature is important for me as I want the IR LEDs to function while I drive in the evening, but I don’t want the IR LEDs during parking mode, to extend the battery pack life for parking recording.

Thank you for your consideration.

I support this.

I have been able to confirm that in Hybrid parking mode when you have the SD card running for the parking mode recording it will record the impact detection in the SSD hard drive. I haven't checked to see if it records is AS WELL in the SD card. I think this is an important feature because if your car is broken into and dash cam taken and if you are using Hybrid parking mode you would lose your recording of the event if your camera is taken. But, now if you have a hidden SSD drive you will have documentation as to the what happened. My SSD card is easily accessible if you know exactly where to look but not easy to find, especially if you are in a hurry to get out.

So, far I really am delighted with the new V2 Firmware. The only exception is that like everyone else, I am getting many parking impact notifications when I get back in the car. I have to figure how to minimize that.

Lastly, I have been using the new App as well. It seems to have all the necessary options to operate the new V2 firmware. The only exception is that when you go to play the videos it says "video Synthesis in progress, please wait" I have waited 10 minutes and nothing happens. However, I have been able to use the "old" app which I still have on my phone to access the videos and it works without any issues. I am sure they are aware of this issue with the new app and or attempting to remedy it.

Thanks

Same, on both.
Every time I get in or out, open/close a door, lock/unlock a door, open/close a glove box, everything seems
to trigger an Impact notification. Something like an adjustable delay might be just what I need.
As it is right now I have been ignoring it, which renders the function pointless. If I do a walk-around with every notification,
or if I do a walk-around without the notification, same thing.

I really like the sensitivity though, but all events are caused by my regular and daily use of my vehicle.

100 percent agree on the sensitivity being high which is fantastic. Prior to the update, I had set it to high and it would not detect anything unless it was pushed extremely hard so a light impact was not detected. Now, it is. I guess for those who want less sensitivity that option is available.

Looking at a few more examples, I'm seeing 66+27+27 with front camera HDR OFF, and 54+24+24 with front camera HDR ON.

I noted this difference before the V2 update. The bitrate is a good bit higher with HDR turned off. The numbers you have posted match the numbers I am seeing as well. I presume this means everything is working the way it is supposed to.

I agree too! The V2 firmware has a lot of excellent additions and changes! Very much appreciated.

+1 for the parking notifications when I get back into the car at the end of the day. I use LBR and have the sensor set to maximum sensitivity during parking mode, but I'm definitely not getting the 2-3 min "grace period" for impacts after starting the car. I get an impact notification EVERY TIME I get into the car at the end of the day. Something is not functioning correctly with this part of the new firmware.

Oh geez, that's not confusing at all, lol. Sorry about that. Glad you found it!

OK, now I'm really going to bake your noodle!
I went out to set the HDR to ON full time, and also looked around to see why I couldn't find
Geofencing...
And I couldn't find it - AGAIN! (using the android app)

I must have rolled back and forth through the menu/settings a dozen times - nothing. Not there.
THEN -
I looked through the menus using the screen and buttons on the Main Cam, and there it was.
What the heck! I have updated the FW/SW in both the cam and the phone but Geofencing does
not show as an option on the Android App, only through the main cam panel.

So that's a thing you now know. 😉

@VIOFO-Support hey guys, any idea when the new option "Geofencing" will show up in the
Settings menu on the Android App Beta version?

That's pretty much the only annoyance (so far 🤔). Every door closure triggers an impact!

I've lowered parking G-sensor sensitivity to "low" in the hope of getting less alerts. I've yet to see how that goes.

Going back to my previous BlackVue, that used a slider to set things like sensitivity. So, in theory, it gives more control of how the G-sensor rates an impact.

Maybe @viofo might consider that change?

The grace period does seem to work for me.

I get in the car, I hear the camera shutter... turn the car on (I have external battery pack connected to a run circuit so its only on when car is fully running) and I get no notification.

The annoyance I have is that the file is still locked. If the camera would look back into the grace period and move from the locked folder back to the parking folder, that would be perfect. Otherwise, I have all these locked files eventually taking up space. Sure its only 65meg... but its 65meg every time I get in the car.

@viofo @VIOFO-Support I am getting a following error when I try to use the new beta IOS app with firmware VIOFO_A329S_V2.0_251027. It works perfectly with the the old IOS app though. Am I doing anything wrong?

what is your app version number? On the app main screen, you can try to click the "+" to add the new camera, then follow the steps to connect the Wi-Fi.

@VIOFO-Support The app version is 1.0.2.15 and I don't see any "+" button.

There is only a "Connect New Device" which then asks me to select the model. After selecting it (A329S) I get the WIFI setup instructions (already connected to the dashcam) and then finally the error message from my previous message.

Ive been doing some testing with the A329T on V2.0 and HK4 hardwire kit.
Initially it didn't recognize HK4 hardwire so I could not select hybrid parking. I had to wait some time.

This worked well for about a day.
I once put the vehicle in accessory mode to roll the windows up (vehicle was not running). Then turned accessory off, it stopped recording parking mode.
I had to unplug and plug back in the USBC. It started recording in low bitrate, but continued to record in parking mode while driving.
I've now come across another issue where it will not recognize parking mode and continue to record non stop, bypassing the geofencing feature.
