VIOFO A119 V3

A119V3 does not have WDR, but only hardware HDR

True, they forgot to add that the WDR smears the picture, even in good light.

Here are my experiments!

WDR as HDR
Day
Night

Conclusion!!!
Now HDR will always be turned on

So the WDR option is really HDR in disguise ?

So then Iggy

vvs49 statement "A119V3 does not have WDR, but only hardware HDR " confuses me .
His statement indicates that HDR is hardware ???
Your quote states that HDR is software. "WDR makes efforts on hardware while HDR makes efforts on software. "
This my original question" So the WDR option is really HDR in disguise ? "

I really need to hear from vvs49. would also like to understand whats been done to his Modded 1.03 Firmware.

So the latest Firmware V1.03 has some bad stuff?

I'm perfectly happy with my 1.03 footage.

You're not going to get Steven Spielberg cinema quality footage from a tiny dashcam with compression. The Viofo does a good job at a good price compared to other makes.

QuadHD 1440 with a Sony lens is where it's at :)

Default resolution will probably give best results (1440p).

That’s the latest firmware version.

Thanks a lot , ok I will try 1440 , though I want file size small to share with family and friends and that's why my clip time is 1 minute.
Is it true that 60 FPS has better quality than 30 FPS?

I've tried both 1080 and 1440 and 1440 definitely has the edge.

60fps has it's advantages, typically freeze frame viewing, but for motion viewing 1440 it is.

You definitely need to be capturing in the native format of the sensor which is 1440p (cropped).

Hi Gama7362,

I would definitely stick with the 1440 resolution.

I did some limited testing with 1080 @ 60fps, but came away with the impression that the 1440 @ 30fps was the way to go.

That may change depending on the situation, but time will tell.

Just a suggestion though; you’ve got lots of unnecessary ‘sky footage’ going on. Tilt that lens down one click, and you should be good to go.
