VIOFO A119S Modified Firmware MODs Archive

The sun came out to reveal the white Porsche. 6Nj using Sharpness Low 42 Med 52 High 62 also took @dacbuc 's advice and lowered Edge Detection from 148 to 138 which eliminated the halo.
We're not finished yet, need another range level to test, suggestions ?

There seems to be a shadow difference on the 42 sharpness picture causing the license plate to be blown out. I think this is the perfect sharpness increment for low, medium, and high.

Or maybe 45-55-65 with Edge 138?

The sun went down and the lights turned on. 6N? using Sharpness Low 44 Med 54 High 60, setup = 1080@30fps, CPL on, EV=0, WDR off,
Sharp 54 & 60 are too close and 60 isn't high enough, votes on 44-54-64 or 45-55-65 with Edge 138 or 148 ?

It looks like 10 steps between sharpness' would be the best but honestly I don't know if many people would choose the high setting anyway.

Sharpness level High is useful to owners with slightly out of focus Lens, and creates interesting low light video effects. The current Novatek base code has built-in support for 3 levels, I'd prefer 10 levels.

This time No CPL.
What I like about rainy weather is that I get same light conditions no matter which direction I drive :)

45 A bit soft:

I think the sharpness range is spot on.
Not sure about the edge, I see no difference.

Can't believe you guys beat me in posting clips, I went out the next hour to record my footage! May need Edge changed from 138 to 148. These are video frame captures and not as accurate as parking lot photos. Well done DCTeam!!

This is old news now but I guess good for data points.

MOD-6Nd - 1080p@60fps - WDR Off - EV 0 - Sharpness 30 (High) - No CPL

On a side note it seems like everyone is experiencing overcast weather all at once.
Great Highway footage for Sharp30, hopefully the alternate table adjustments improve night footage. The 3:15pm lane merge you performed at full speed was gutsy move, doesn't look like anyone follows speed limits.

Totally agree with your observations, even in the rain the Sharp 45-55-65 levels are noticeable and not extreme. Will wait few days for more clips and feedback, 6Nk may be a keeper.

No they don't. You have to force your way in sometimes. The person behind that truck was following close as well so I had to squeeze in. I really despise traffic around here.
