VIOFO A119S Modified Firmware MODs Archive

When I finish work, will create MOD-6Ng Sharp 30/40/50 for Beta Testing. If anyone else wants to test slightly different levels let me know. I tend to add comments/suggests to everyone, the Lens cleaning was a general verification to all not your current excellent comparisons, well done.
Sure, it was mentioned by me only to clarify that the lens and cpl are clean and do not affect the picture quality of my recently published photos.

6Nd
Everything's default + CPL
Sharp20 - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AKaT15rM-_Di0PTD-N-SitJlEVBj9XsS/view?usp=sharing
Sharp30 - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UJ90PAUpFFR48llO6h0effGvWVj8D8j8/view?usp=sharing
(seems a bit blurry image on top right corner, maybe accidentally moved CPL)

Ordered new CPL, will try to adopt (not saying it will fit, but will try) - VIOFO plastic/fantastic doesn't feel serious for me as hobbyist image maker
does it come with a second magnet for a CPL it should stick to?
I also want a CPL, but quickly adjustable by rotation right on a camera, preferably by "clicks" or "notches". last night I tried to modify the one that came with A119 but with no tools / materials it's difficult to do by yourself.

by info available - not, but I hope, the inner part is rotating, so could add magnetic tape or double-sided tape to DVR. When arrives, I'll add detailed info

Which of these Sharpness ranges represents the best combination for End User Stable version? Missing the midrange Sharp20/30/40 due to previous footage coverage, create-able with enough agreement.

I'd prefer the 102030, I think it covers it all. 10 is low for some but for some it's good, same with 30.

Created new A119S - Beta versions 6Ni , 6Nh
Beta Burnout is approaching with more Wacky Weekend MODs. These two MODs 6Ni & 6Nh are different than previous 3 level sharpness firmware. While working on A129 & A119 firmware discovered more fine detail controls with very high integer values. Using preliminary rainy day static photo comparisons produced interesting results. Requesting a quick review of these modified sharpness levels, all feedback welcome.

Not sure what's the conclusion as the footage was taken in different lightning positions, I think the 52 is better then 38 and 66.
38 is too soft, 66 a bit grainy.

The clouds parted long enough for a quick Sharpness Level static photo comparison between 6Ni Low 38 / Med 52 / High 66 <> VS <> 6Nh Low 44 / Med 58 / High 72
Always difficult to find best values but these 6 levels are great starting point using the easier Sharpness adjustment table.
Values can be changed to any 'even' number 38,40,42... what 3 levels do you prefer for next A119S Sharpness MOD? = 40/50/60 ?
Note the road lines, curb, rear window, brick wall, restaurant sign, roof outline.
I must repeat this for each VIOFO Dash Cam model.

I liked the 38 52 (IMHO the best) 66, so I think 40 50 60 would be just fine.

Great timely 6Ni footage, your A119S Lens doesn't like Low 38, but Med 52 is much clearer near perfect, High 66 actually looks very good if you ignore the slight halo effect.

@BCHobbyist From your footage the 6Ni Sharp 52 and 6Nh Sharp 44 look the best to me with the 6Nh taking the edge due to better plate capture.

I agree with your observation, it now suggests adjustment of Low 42 / Med 52 / High 62
I try to create a series of MODs over days/weeks, when taken together cover much larger target range, then using a simple calculation generate the next MOD. This easier to adjust 48byte Sharpness table allows much more fine detail control without adjusting 600-2400 individual values. This new N series is End User driven and appropriate for Owners to decide values since it should be the best and rival v1.01 H series (will apply this adjustment later to v1.01).

I agree Sharpness should not be lower than 40, or higher than 60. Next, maybe Edge needs some fine tuning.
