I flashed this firmware over and just did a quick look through out my house window, haven't driven with it yet. I personally seem to always go back to normal sharpness 58 in both the 6Nr and 6Ns. Sometimes even "normal" may seem a little too over sharpened as well. Soft and normal seems like a huge jump even when it's 57 to 58. Wonder if you can punch in 57.5? LOL. Through the brief test, I found 6Ns had a lot more haloing at the edges. Probably due to the bump in edge detection. 6Nr seemed better and reduced this effect. Again this was only done in a brief test out the house window with no windshield in front. Driving experience may be different. Going to test this in the car in the next few days and hoping the lowered saturation may help in lowering the blown out whites. I also wonder if testing without a glass in front is a better controlled test overall. Different windshields will have different surface treatments and distortion levels depending on curvature and will vary test results.
Thanks for the comments and ideas, Beta Test MODs mounted in vehicle always best.
6Nr was very good but lacked crisp image.
6Ns only difference is Edge and Saturation, to handle increased Edge only need to change range from 57-58-60 to 56-57-59 or 55-56-58.
Expanding range scale is possible and last option.
SaturationB affects different intensity and 108 is dull and washed out, 112-120 should tone down blown-out whites, 118 has possibilities.
I expected +10 Edge would cause unacceptable halo over-sharp edges so Testers could see the extreme effects, similar to VIOFO's official FW, next would be -5, the acceptable range is between 158 - 148 estimating 152 but need to be sure higher isn't actually better. The weather here is so bad I cannot Alpha test out the window.
Once I see a few daytime clips will adjust Edge multiple times a day if Testers are on hand to share clips. only need Soft & Normal test footage parking lots, city streets, buildings, Strong will be horrible unless Lens has poor focus.
