What's the best bang for buck external hotspot option?

I have Verizon, but I don't need to stick with them. I see there are a lot of options out there for external hotspots, even some bring your own device. What's the best bang for buck setup?

I was told my Cadillac had 24/7 hotspot but it's only when my vehicle is on (WTF! telling me it's 24/7).

I have a U1000 2 channel and RADAR (I know the RADAR is incompatible with hotspot, this is for long term parking).

Will there be a problem with the hotspot killing my battery if I drive everyday to every other day?
