XiaoMi Yi dashcam focus problems

It works, I managed to flash my Xiaomi with this version (Chinese serial->V-0.07.018 (FWCARC10.bin)->V-0.08.012_stable_version(firmware.bin)).
I've found this url from the other ones.

1) Focus of dashcam was set at infinity. Not to few meters.
2) The farther thing is, the more blurry image will get.

1. Did the 8.012 firmware help in picture quality at all.
2. Are u also suffering from the very grainy/noisy picture quality.

I flashed the older US version as Sanjay mentioned but it's still as blurry and grainy. What a load of crap this dashcam is. How can dashcamtalk even call the image quality very good?

Sanjay :
1 : I did it yesterday, I have yet to try on the road.
2: There were some noise but not at a level that bother me.
In a few days I will be able to compare before/after.

Yes the video being grainy is a real pain and doubt if anything can be done about it.
Will try and see if I can refocus the lens to atleast take care of the focus issue even at a few car lengths.
Also plan to keep on flashing older Chinese firmwares to see if the earlier ones had low noise. Otherwise it is really difficult to understand how all the earlier reviewers classified it as a good/very good picture quality.
Doubt if any hardware change could have caused the grains/noise.
Attaching a few frame freezes done thru registrator viewer to highlight the focus set very near.

yes it very strange all the reviews are "very good"...
if no one here recommends the YI, What alternative is there? with this price range... :(

Yea I can't understand how such a camera can get so much noise even in perfect conditions. Bitrate is high too so what the hell is the image processor doing?

Left images without Y logo are V-1.01-005-US
Right image with Y logo are V-0.08.012_stable_version (chinese)
It seems to me that 1.01 are very slightly better (less artifacts) than 0.08.

Hi,

I need some help with my camera. I have just bought one (chinese version). I have uploaded lastest firmware V-1.01.005-US from here
http://www.yitechnology.com/support/firmware_en.html and it has HUGE focus problem.

Only things which are close to the camera are in focus. Everything else is totally blurred. Is it possible to fix it somehow? ;( ;( ;( Clipboard01.jpg Clipboard02.jpg

I'm not "tchnican" I'm afraid that I will broke sth. I have seen, you have to break apart whole camera to get to the lenses.

I have found that it can be adjusted using soft and Engmode
Some one tried it? Is it really helping?

I have just checked it and see no difference ;(

If you dont fix this, it's a trash anyway...
so you must open it. Let's think that way.

you can try hardware adjustment
Disassemble and turn the lens to focus.
*Care must be taken to remove the glue that is holding the lens
