I like your way of thinking. 👍😀

Doing what I can with a little logical persuasion to help you guys out.

😀

Personally, I'm all cammed-up after having just ordered the WR1, and along with my A119 and 4 year old and still-running-like-a-champ Mobius, I'm probably out of the cam market for a couple years (I might order one more WR1 in a few months depending on how this one goes).

My guess is that people want this for $199-$249 max, but SG wants $349-$399 min. Just my guess.

Good luck to all!

Thanks to all for the explanations which clears up my confusion regards these. Now I will know what to be searching for instead of having to scroll through hundreds or thousands of product pics to find what I want 😀

Phil
As Niko said there's probably no industry standard. Here's a couple examples I found, in one the up/down are the opposite of Niko's example while the right/left are the same. 🙁

no matter what price we're at there's always those that expect that it should be cheaper, will depend on which size and model memory card (memory prices are a bit out of hand right now) it is supplied with but USD pricing will probably range from about $299 through to about $369, depending where memory prices are at (they were expected to be on the way back down already but that still hasn't happened) at the time

in Australia our $499 RRP is anything from $100 to more than $300 cheaper than similar spec models

November 2015. B&H had SanDisk High Endurance 64gb (white with red lettering) on sale for $19. Have no idea why, but I decided to buy 5 of them on a whim. Three of them are unopened to this day. Turns out it was a wise call.

Btw, my Mobius (which literally never leaves my car) still has the same SanDisk Ultra for 3+ years now and nary a problem. I know people complain about the Ultra all the time, but my experience with it has been great. And the High Endurance has been a champ.

.

closer to a dollar per gigabyte recently, really out of hand at the moment

memory trades like the stock market, the price is offered three times a day, there's an opening price, midday price and a closing price and when you book stock the price is locked in and has to be paid for within a fixed time frame, price goes up and down based on supply and demand, over the last year demand has been outstripping supply which has pushed the prices way up

I'm pretty much aware of how it works at the wholesale/distributor level. Kind of amazing how it's become more of a commodity versus a product. Probably not surprising given the number of products that use solid state memory - be it removable or not.

That's because there's no set standard/rule for soldering the Mini USB connector in a particular orientation. All depends on the devices the cable manufacturer uses as a reference. For example the M1 & M2.

There's been a crushing demand for memory of all sorts over the last couple years now. DRAM and NAND shortage has payed well to owners of stocks like Applied Materials and Lam Research. I don't own those two but I picked up Micron at around $12 a year ago and it's in the $30s today. Western Digitial has been another great play that's doubled in the last year.

Shortages will probably continue into 2018-mid 19 from what I gather.

Was referring to silicon pricing, how the manufacturers buy the raw material, years ago I used to do some other memory related products and had to follow the market pricing to try and work out the best time to order, was mind numbing to say the least

Was predicted a year ago to have eased by now with some new manufacturing tech coming online but it is still out of hand, no turnaround in sight as yet

it's USB for power but we use a right angle plug to tuck the wires in neater
what am i thinking of then? is there any phone type plugs on the cam? too dark to go look now, i cant for the life of me remember where i saw one of them now, it was something i installed in the last couple of months.

Not a good time to lose cards or for them to fail. I hope I find my 128GB that's lodged somewhere around the driver's seat, haven't been able to spot it for the past two days.

Let me know how you approach your search; maybe I will be able to follow and find the two that are missing in my car 🙁
