Connect rear cam to nextbase 512gw

That sounds like just another way for NextBase to say "we still don't have a clue". They used the same language 6 months ago.
Companies I deal with have a firm release date and stick to it. None of this "
distributing to public a few weeks later".
What's that supposed to mean?
GoPro Hero 6 had a release date in the US. I got mine within a week in the UK.
This whole fiasco is very unprofessional.

That about sums it up for me.

I've ditched the 512GW as I bought it on the premise of a two camera set-up, and that isn't happening as far as I'm concerned in the foreseeable future.

Vote with your feet as they say!

Probably be the first day of the following month, πŸ˜‰ we all know what the 1st of April is πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Very annoyed at nextbase as I bought the 512gw a few months ago for the rear cam and every time I come on to find out a date it''s push back . Starting to get the feeling that there is no rear cam coming out. Will definitely but going elsewhere next time as I'm just getting fed up . πŸ‘Ž

By the time the rear camera is available my 512gw will be nearly out of warranty. Or if any more delays it will be out of warranty.

Great if the camera packs up then I've got a useless rear camera if I buy one. Another reason making it more unlikely for me to buy it now.

Otherwise I have to then buy another 512gw to be able to use the rear camera.

But to be honest this has left a bitter taste in my mouth regarding nextbase and this enormous **** up.

Hello

Please could we have an update on the rear camera please given it now March?

Many thanks
Tom

Heard a rumour that nextbase has sorted the rear camera issue. They will be supplying the DUO with a saw, roll of wire and a soldering iron. Not sure how the rear mount will work as there is no indication of sticky tape in the pack. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£

I don't think given the feeling on here over this fiasco Tiffany is prepared to give any further info on the rear camera until it has been released into the shops.

The only suggestion of march to suppliers and then probably August to shops has come from Elliot via email.

nextbase: the camera has entered production phase and will be with suppliers towards the end of the month

Can you tell us where the information comes from please.

Does that mean Halfords will have it for sale in from April 2018?
UK customers want to know when they will be able to buy it in the UK.

The proof is in the pudding as they say regarding timing of this 'supposed' rear camera.

I for one certainly won't be buying one now as the warranty on my (now) unused 512GW will expire ~mid-July.
Cannot justify throwing good money after bad imho.

Any decent company would have looked after their customers (such as a generously discounted product) to appease the situation; certainly cannot see that happening in this case.

Everything has a 2 year warranty in the EU, regardless of if they say it has 12 months. How long you had it, less than a year right? It's not been out that long. Are you EU based?

I'm new to all this and picked up the front one a few weeks ago.

It's a pretty simple device..I'd expect this to last for years before a battery replacement...and unlikely to expect to see circuit failure for 5+ years.

Why the feeling it'll just break out of warranty?

If Nextbase were to make a public statement that all their products carry a blanket 2 year warranty within the EU then great, happy days.
I have a feeling they won't though πŸ˜‰

Also, do a search on these forums for failed Nextbase (or any other brand tbh) cameras which use internal batteries; I think you'll be surprised with the results and may find out the reason most reputable companies tends towards internal capacitors......

They don't need to. The sale of goods act is with the retailer.

Even better if there is plenty of stories on the internet, easy for us to prove the device is not of reasonable quality in today's standards.

Easy. No point worrying, but know your rights and how to deal with the situation.

Amazon know the score and are very good. I've only ever had 1 thing go wrong and that was a 1300 soundbar from Sony. Amazon gave full refund at 13 months after it failed a second time.

Thank god for the EU...great that the UK belong ... Oh wait.

Anyway off topic. I do agree their product development cycle seems a little off. They should have marked the usb as something less interesting. They clearly underestimated the work to launch the addon camera product...which shows a lack of experience...or just a mistake. We all make mistakes. Life is too short to give a .....

Mmm ... No response. Draw your own conclusion.
512GW Manual:
"13. Rear Camera input (located under the dustcover). Used to connect an auxiliary rear camera (sold separately), contact your local Nextbase dealer for availability.
Note:- Failure to use the approved Nextbase Rear Camera, will result in damage being caused which will not be covered under the manufacturers warranty."
The Trade Descriptions Act 1968 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which prevents manufacturers, retailers or service industry providers from misleading consumers as to what they are spending their money on.
We have been mislead into believing that this rear camera would be available in a reasonable time.
