BlackVue Elite 10 Dual 4K - Test/Review - RCG

I’m looking for a front-only dash cam for my Tesla.
Power should be supplied via USB Type-C or the cigarette lighter socket.
My main concern is durability under high interior temperatures during summer. So it needs to be a capacitor-based model (not battery-powered) to minimize any risk of overheating, swelling, or potential fire when the car is parked.
It should also be able to record the entire drive continuously without missing any footage.
Between these two models that are available in my country, which one would you recommend?
  • Viofo A329S
  • BlackVue Elite 10

Hey @major24 based on the features you're after, the A329s would make the most sense (Super Capacitor, USB C, continuous recording, etc.)

If you want to chat more about that model please reach out at info@blackboxmycar.com

Firmware v1.008 for the Elite 10 dash camera is now available via the BlackVue app. The BlackVue website does not show this update just yet.

[v1.008]
1. Added remote SD card format.
2. Improved time synchronization.
3. Added exFAT file system support.
4. Added Hong Kong and Ukrainian language support.
5. Improved system stability.

The BlackVue app had a recent update as well.

Android v4.24 (Release date: 2026-04-29)
iOS v4.20 (Release date : Apr 28, 2026)

• Added Audio Recording setting to Quick Settings
• Remote SD card format now available for select models
(Supported models : DR770X II / DR770X LTE / DR770X Box Pro / DR970X LTE Plus II / ELITE 8 / ELITE 9 / ELITE 10 / ELITE+ GOLD)
• Other bug fixes and system stability improvements

What is the exFat support? Is that for the dashcam and do we need to reformat?

I'm not aware of this being a "you must reformat" the SD card situation. I believe it's to allow memory cards formatted on a Windows computer with the exFAT file system to work in the Elite series dash camera [complete guess]. I just sent an email asking the details of this change. It may be a few days before I get a reply due to a May holiday break for Pittasoft/BlackVue.

It's 25c outside and not even summer yet, but the front camera overheated and shut down.
(the second cam is on the back where i have tinted windows)

Overheating was exactly the reason why i switched from BV to Thinkware years ago....

between this, the fact that there is no setting for when you use a battery packs (cut-off moment) and their paid cloud services,
I really start to regret that i got rid of my trusty U1000's

I have a question about the hotspot/cellular settings: if I have the 4G/LTE accessory configured for internet access, will the camera automatically switch over to my home wifi when it’s in range?

I noticed that the user manual for several other cameras says:
If LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot are available for internet connection, Wi-Fi hotspot will be in priority. If LTE connection is preferred at all times, please remove Wi-Fi hotspot information.
So I’m really hoping that the Elite10 retains this behaviour

Sacrebleu 😏
We also hit 25 here in a few places, but that is enough to call today the first day os summer in Denmark.

I’ll be able to report back in 6 months when it hits 45c down under 😀

A couple of weeks ago I posted this response to this same question:

With regard to setting up the WiFi hotspot settings for connectivity to the BlackVue Cloud service, I've not tested that feature for a long time. The web manual states that if you have the CM100G LTE connectivity module you don't need to use the hotspot settings, but I don't know if that means they are mutually exclusive. @Vortex Radar may have more recent info/experience with this configuration.

I haven't had the time to test having Wi-Fi hotspot credentials in place along with using the LTE connectivity module. Looking at my Elite 9's hotspot settings via the BlackVue app, it doesn't prevent you from entering hotspot name and password info with the dash camera having a LTE connectivity module. I'll try to schedule some time next week to test this configuration.

Appreciate it, but don’t rush to test it for me. I’ve already pulled the trigger on an Elite 10 with LTE module, it will be here soonish. It will be trivial for me to test, I have an access point close to where I park the car. I’ll be sure to test it and post here if I beat you to it.

you can store 3 hotspots in camera and it will switch to which ever is available.
when i drive it uses my car's hotspot and when i get the the office it switches to the office wifi

Using the Wi-Fi hotspot feature by itself to access the BlackVue Cloud service is one use of that feature. Our question is if the BlackVue connectivity module is connected and functional will the Elite dash camera switch over to a Wi-Fi hotspot when one is within range.

I submitted the LTE vs remote Wi-Fi hotspot question for the Elite dash camera series to Pittasoft. Here is their response:

The ELITE Series also prioritizes connection to the hotspot when in range.
The camera will only switch the connection to the SIM card (LTE connection) if the hotspot is not detected or loses internet connection.
If you have three hotspots saved in the camera settings, the camera will attempt to connect to one of those hotspots.
If all three hotspots are not available, the camera automatically switches to the LTE connection.

I ran a quick test yesterday with my Elite 9 to see if the Wi-Fi remote hotspot info would be used for the BlackVue Cloud connection when the BlackVue connectivity module was also present and functional. I used the Elite 9 instead of my Elite 10 since I already had the Elite 9 configured to use the LTE connectivity module and it was already added as my one [free] camera using the cloud service.

I powered on my Elite 9 and it connected to the BlackVue Cloud service using the LTE connectivity module. I added my home's Wi-Fi info to hotspot number 1. The Elite 9 did not announce anything, but when I tested the remote live view, it was very quick [quicker than over the LTE connection]. To make sure the remote Wi-Fi hotspot info was "working", I powered down the Elite 9 and removed the LTE module's USB cable from the Elite 9 and powered it on again. The cloud connection was established and the LED was green which is the same LTE cloud connection LED color. The remote live view still worked and it was still very responsive to my live view request. I powered down the Elite 9 and reconnected the LTE connectivity module and powered it on again. The speed of the remote live view was still very quick. Based on how this test of the remote Wi-Fi hotspot usage behaved, I have to agree with the Pittasoft statement that it will use the remote Wi-Fi hotspot when available even if the LTE connectivity module is present and functional.
