Anybody know what's in the new firmware?

changelog is included
And... of course, a practically instantaneous response. I should have looked closer (although the site seems to be down at the moment).

Thanks!

Thanks @jokiin Just downloaded the appropriate latest version. :)

Jokiin,

Does the updated SDK in this release provide better support for SanDisk 128GB cards.

Thanks,

Ron

Going forward will there be separate F/W releases depending on serial number ranges?... or is this a 'one time' transitional procedure?

Second question: I'm currently running the '0906' beta F/W, any 'issues' for me in that regard?

Thanks

Edit: Third question: In the change log there is an entry - 8. Remove GPS automatic time updating (pending fix). What exactly is the impact of this?

The forked firmware is because of the following reason and will remain this way.

Latest firmware is this thread so go ahead and update.

Auto time date sync was disabled due to a bug that is part of the new SDK we used to build this new firmware.

It should be enabled once the bug is fixed by Novatek and we can compile another new firmware. Manually set your time date for now. (Or you can wait for the next update)

Thanks Jon. I now remember the thread you linked to but it had slipped my mind.

Any ETA on the 'fixed' SDK? I really like having my front and rear cams time synched automatically.

So, considering how long we waited for this (so far seemingly modest) update, how many months 'til the next one?

Well now that a few unplanned hurdles were tackled we can re-focus on improving / enhancing the basics. We always make our products incrementally better step-by-step.

By the way, This latest firmware now has native support for 128GB microSD cards. (Can format 128GB in the camera)

No ETA but the main Novatek CPU engineers are fully aware and should address it.

Any specific manufacturers/preferred brands or should it be universal support?

features are the same but they remain separate builds

In the change log there is an entry - 8. Remove GPS automatic time updating (pending fix). What exactly is the impact of this?

the impact is twofold, at the moment you need to manually set the clock, the bigger issue is that it stops the time jumping out of sync which was happening in some circumstances which would then cause the file order to change and overwrite the incorrect files

So, considering how long we waited for this (so far seemingly modest) update, how many months 'til the next one?

there were 14 betas and 2 release candidates between this and the last version which has been a lot of work for everyone involved, sometimes things are one step forward, two steps back (even the modest stuff is a lot of work), there's less stuff outstanding still though so hopefully not as long

no ETA at this stage, it's a lot of work to get it right and we're waiting on some external vendor fixes before we can do our bit

Thanks,

we have never recommended the use of any Sandisk cards, the new DVR specific cards might be ok but we haven't tested them at all
