Are Amazon Reviews Trustworthy?

If I had the money I would be tempted to buy 200 reviews for these cameras for them, except ask them to be 1 star - just to troll them. Sadly, I do not have that kind of money to blow just for a joke.

Kind regards,
JooVuu

I'm with Niko on the Karma thing. It's best to avoid playing dirty pool and risk instigating a retaliation seller drama war.
There is no reason to lower yourself to their level. (just as bad) Playing fair is a better way to have a successful business and keep a good reputation.

@niko @Pier28, just to clarify we would NEVER do that at JooVuu as it is self-defeating and well pretty pointless. It was just more a passing fantasy but nothing we would actually do at JooVuu. We have a pretty good reputation and successful business (over 800+ positive reviews) so we're feeling pretty good and wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize that only enhance it.

Kind regards,

JooVuu

No problem. I ( and many others ) know you, your service etc, our world is too small, and I know your were kidding, maybe just expressing a impulsive fantasy feeling to fight with unfair feedback. My pictures with old sayings are more pointed to those who might not understood- or did take seriously your joke, who might want start using this "trolling technique", to warn them about "Karma-thing".

Well you lied about sending my cameras and then lost 2 paypal disputes without actually communicating with me. Maybe you should spend less time fantasising and a bit more time on customer service and then you won't be forced to pay back the money you took and then lied about shipping.

I suspected propped up product reviews but didn't realize the extent.

With respect to Amazon and dashcams, here in the USA the installed base is too small to gain much guidance from reviews. I observe they fail from two sources. Great reviews with qualitative descriptions that praise the picture from a 480x600 camera. Bad reviews from the plug and play experts.

While nothing is perfect, this forum is the best I've found for dashcam info and with tollerable exception all here are helpful.

I look for reviews that include information that can only be generated from hands on use and reviews that convey a level of expertise with the subject. I'm apprehensive about products with few reviews containing vague comments. I also look for the number of 1 star vs 4&5. If close to 25%, I pass.

For me, if the delivered product aligns with description and it serves the intended purpose, it gets 5 stars. I will only submit a disparaging remark if there is an obvious miss match or failed expectation.

Thanks for posting that link. Seems great that Amazon is going after these companies. However, I think they need to go after the sellers who buy these fake reviews as well.

For the verified purchases, seems like the vendors are sending empty boxes / envelopes to the fake reviewers.

"The Amazon suit claims that BuyAzonReviews.com didn't even require a company to ship its products to its reviewers, suggesting those buying its services simply ship empty boxes or envelopes for tracking purposes. These reviewers would still post "glowing five-star reviews ... on products they never received,"

However, I think they need to go after the sellers who buy these fake reviews as well.
If would be great if Amazon can eliminate the shady sellers at the same time. There have been occasions where I have decided to not go through with a purchase because I cannot tell whether the risk is reasonable or not.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Amazon will terminate a seller but I don't remember the circumstances when they will take this action. (I'm sure that an unusual number of complaints about misrepresented products would be one reason however.)

these affiliate links must be making them something, they're going to a lot of effort to try and promote this stuff

see this is what these Amazon affiliate spammers are all about, I see others there are already calling him out as an Amazon link spammer, this is the stuff that confuses the customers rather than helps them, a couple of good products, a couple of ordinary ones but it's only about the referral links, a 3 day old website that wants to present themselves as the champion of the people, finding out which product you really should buy (from Amazon of course)

I didn't want to start a new thread but this is about fake reviews, not necessarily related to Amazon. Just watched a piece on tv about making and buying fake reviews (for anything) and it was an eye-opener. One site that was mentioned in particular was fiverr.com where you can get fake reviews made on any product or service for just $5. Anyway, if you have the time or interest check out the show at

I ended up watching this and a few other of the CBC videos. Thanks for the post
