eh i am a big supporter of shared space road design and dont like how we keep trying to come up with strange ways to make people "safer." shared spaces dont work in very dense city areas but will still work in many cities. people and drivers just need to start learning to be aware of each other, stuff like timed one way roads and other traffic control encourage people to not pay attention and also speed or try to beat lights instead of paying attention to the road and their surroundings.
