Hi Mio,

Firstly, thank you for the emails. I now have a question:

I understand the factory camera setting is 2MP but in avserver.sh it tells us this:


#SIZE=5MP <this 5MP appears to be commented out so the camera will default to 2MP default setting? We also know that 5MP will not work anyway
# other possible resolution options:
#2MP
#3MP
#5MP - does not work - not enough memory

So, if we change

#SIZE=5MP

to

SIZE=3MP (comment-out # has been removed)

Will this make the camera 3MP???

as i see, in that file the current format is SIZE=1080p . So I think this is the highest one, or not ?

A few timezone's missing - but easy to fix.


For anyone who can't find their city (for example, brisbane, Australia) use this site and check your time zone for another city (ie, I had to use a Russian city for Brisbane, Australia as it is the same time zone) ; http://www.timegenie.com/utc.time

Brisbane Australia IS IN THE TIME ZONE LIST in the standard firmware and Tokyo is in the same time zone as I use that on my watch due to daylight saving in Austalia

My GPS has spoilt and I cant detect the correct time zone. Any solution?

The time zone is set in the settings part of the viewer so should still be there as you are not using the camera to set that unless doing it by WIFI

Even then the GPS does NOT set the time zone It has to be set before you put card in the camera and then the GPS sets the time according to the offset from Greenwich mean time using the time zone you set it to.

I forgot to do that when I went to USA and had a time and date 18hours out because I didnt change the time zone.

Yes but once you use the custom firmware with the timezone/city time folder the time becomes incorrect, even when the correct zone is chosen in the list in the blackvue app.

And Tokyo is not in the same timezone as Brisbane, it is an hour behind.

I have successfully upgraded mine to have high bitrate and remove the DRG500W watermark!

Try to PM Mio.., he will send you the firmware. I could have sent you mine but I think better you get it from him as he should have the latest and greatest.

So i got the new firmware 1.005E from Mio!, it works great everything english and timezone is correct.

I got roughly the same video as VincentMiata too...should I turn the brightness up to one scale before max? What is the brightness do you recommend to get good video?
