GitUp Git2- Support, FAQ, Review

Camera have Wi-Fi and that feature is working with true specs, not fakes, even it is using some application and not a GitUp app. But I agree, missing app is the biggest problem of GitUp and they should not let pass so many time until launch of it. Maybe they want to release a perfect app, but they should think if was not better to launch a beta app even being beta for many months. Being a beta people can not blame too much, but they were not delayed.

Git2 crashed (software) too many times, many times record starts but nothing recorded etc.
\
I have a Git1 continuously recording from February because it is used as a security camera and it always recording, never stopped. It is also recording on the card (8GB), but the card was never checked by me because never stopped the camera. I don't know about Git2 because I am using it as normal camera and is working OK for me. Just the waterproof case seems to be too old now because I used it very much on the beach and I think that rubber seal is affected by too much sun. Sometimes some fog appear inside case, but lucky, not over the lens.

enjoy,
Mtz

Not releasing app is not a problem. Advertising that have app, printing on boxes, card with "will be available in few weeks", keep promissing since december, not answering on questions that they don't like, that is the problem. Unresponsible and unreliable company.

Camera itself is good for the price, but that wifi does not work properly especially with the 3rd party apps. Dozens of time I needed to take out battery so the camera works fine. If using app, many times camera freezes etc etc. Not to mention problems with not recorded videos. Indicator lights and on screen are showing recording but nothing recorded. Tested on Samsung Evo, Transcend and Sundisk Ultra cards. And it was with the all cameras that I got.

And when I see this fight with Sjcam, eggs from same basket...

If I am not wrong, I didn't say any bad words for SJcam in public.
You can search on the forum about the fight history, any fight not begin from us.
Also we only use this ID for post.

We have to say sorry for the APP delay, before we officially released, the best compatible app is FNCAM, work well with V1.5 firmware.

You are like kid twins fighting who is the better football player.

That FN app is freezing as well. We need native app, not fake promisses.

You still false advertise...

@Mtz As SJ6 is also fake 4K, as we declare it is ‘Interpolation’ at anywhere we wrote 4K, like the package, the user manual, the official website.
So, this is not 'just lied the buyers with false specifications' . Hope your understanding about this :)
Also SJ5000X, M20, we all write it clearly that it is 'Interpolation'. :(

But you are forgeting 3 important things. Imported Gopro via official channels means many taxes and costs. 2 years warranty also increases price. Generally support costs. And finally, marketing and production costs.

With the Gitup (and Sjcam as well) we can see that support does not works well or not exists. I bought several Git2 cameras for friends that want to use on quads etc. But lets face it, if I record for business, I would never use chinese cameras like Gitup, Sjcam etc. Git2 crashed (software) too many times, many times record starts but nothing recorded etc. Not to mention ignorant Gitup here on forum that put ios/android logos on the box and apps dont even exists etc etc.

@Markob

As far as I know, GoPro is the best camera in the market but also you can't image SJCAM's invest in market. And for some countries in EU, SJCAM also offer 2 years warranty, like Spain, Turkey and etc.
Compare to GoPro, there is a lot for SJCAM to develop, but it doesn't mean we have nothing, my friend :)
Regarding of aftersale service, SJCAM is working better and better about this, we have repair center in EU, 24 hours aftersale service center, bla bla bla.
Anyway, if you find any complaints about SJCAM, you can contact SJCAM aftersale service center here, support@sjcamhd.com. Our team will handle your questions in 24 hours :)
Good day!

I also noticed this, appreciate it so much! :)

Peter, please don't use my post to fight over my back with Gitup. My discussion with them is not your business.

I never used Sjcam nor I plan to use. I simply use Gopro for important things and Git2 for less important things. I plan to try Yi 4k cam.

When it comes to support of Sjcam, I know retail manager from one of the biggest tech retailer in EU and I know how you guys handle problems with cameras, and I also read on forums before how much your lack of support is missing. So please, before you try to promote your company over my back, think twice, because I could dedicate one big post to Sjcam, and you won't feel good about it.

Please, skip my discussion with Gitup.

Thanks.

Everyone - this is a thread about the Git2, not the SJcam. if you want to discuss the SJcam, please go to the SJCam forum so this thread doesn't get any more cluttered than it already is (currently 107 pages)
Yes, agreed, the SJCAM marketing department have had the thread for 2 days now, time to give it back, there are sufficient references to SJCAM and the SJ6 Legend that people searching for the SJCAM SJ6 Legend on Google will very likely find this popular thread at the top of the search list and read all about the fantastic Git2 instead! We don't need Firefly 7S videos as well

Wrong exposure (check the sky)
Yeah, I see the same poor sky gradient in Git2 videos. No problems in Raw photo. So, it is video color profile thing.
@gitup Please improve the blue color exposure in video mode. Here is example, frame from Git2 video (was no clouds or haze on the sky).

@omegamoto, I saw you posted the Firefly 7s review video and deleted now, wish you will not posted not related info.
And thanks to your suggestions you posted before, we have accepted some and implemented in our firmware. But sorry to here the camera does not fit your requirement at last and you have to move to GoPro.

This thread is started by us and marked for Git2 support, review and FAQ.
I believe Dashcamtalk welcome manufacture continually support their product on the forum, also I wish the thread will be not flooded by not related info. @DashCamMan
I don't mind criticism or complain for the products, but let us focus on Git2 Product on this thread.
If we want to compare and talk with other cameras, there are other different category.

@Markob Got it!
And if you can send some suggestion to us, we will appreciate it so much and will fix it.
Aceept we still have a big gap with GoPro, but we are moving.
Anyway, offer my fully respect for your choice!
Enjoy your sports cameras and I will delete the any reply connection your topic with gitup. :)

@Gibson99 I think this forum is a high freedom place which welcome different kind of topic here. Just like US and EU's freedom compare to Socialist countries.
And also you can see, Mr. Gitup is also warmly welcome in SJCAM forum and actually he already stay there and promot its git2 from the beginning to now. (Welcome to check in SJCAM forum)
As another sports camera, I can understand I am not warm welcome here. But as I talked, I don't think this is the North Korea.
Hi Mr. Gibson, please open your heart to me and to show a respect, I will leave off this topic for a while. And maybe back later when you think I am right and this is fair to me.
Thanks!

@Peter.Wang this is the issue i was talking about (present on the Git2) and every Novatek based camera i've seen so far:

Wrong exposure (check the sky)

In the SJ6 videos I saw it also.

What can you say?

cheers.

Thanks for sharing, hope coming firmware will solve this problem.
And also I think it maybe has connection with its cmos 2.
Anyway, I will contact you personlly and let's check if we can make everything better.

Now, need run away from the gitup forum, because he already picked up phone to call 911.
Waiting for the sentence and justic!

Enjoy!

@gitup...It's a thing that support should resolve as well and this topic is for "support" also...
We have discussed this issue before, you even created a separate thread for it, I don't see the point in making a lot more posts on the same issue when Gitup already knows about it so this is my last one on this issue.

It would be great if Gitup support could resolve the issue with the sky, but as you have already said, it is seen on all Novatek based cameras so probably it needs Novatek to resolve the issue, except that the same issue is also seen on most other digital cameras, so it is not really a Novatek problem either.

Yes, it is more visible on Novatek based cameras than Ambarella based cameras, but by doing a better job of the sky, the Ambarella cameras loose out on the shadow detail, if you watch Techtronic9000's comparison video of the Yi 4K and Git2 then you see the difference easily - he shows that the Git2 has better dynamic range, if the Yi gets good exposure for the sky then there is no detail in the shadows, the Git2 can manage both at the same time but with less accuracy, there is a trade off between the two. Personally, like TT9000, I prefer the Git2. The GoPro Hero 4 is similar to the Yi 4K.

The only good solution we are going to get for the Git2 is to do what photographers have always done and make good use of the exposure settings - Exposure, EV+-, EV lock, choose a location with good lighting, choose a time of day with good lighting conditions, etc. If you want good image quality for the sky then set the correct exposure for the sky, but of course you will loose detail in the shadows by doing so, with current technology it is not always possible to have correct exposure for everything at the same time, it never has been possible, not even our eyes can do it - look at the sky and your eyes adjust to the brightness of the sky, look at the shadows and they adjust to the brightness of the shadows, they can't manage both at the same time, so why expect a photo/video to be able to do both at the same time?

Yeah, I see the same poor sky gradient in Git2 videos. No problems in Raw photo. So, it is video color profile thing.
It also happens with jpg photos, it is the conversion from the 12 bit colour of the sensor to the 8 bit jpg/H264 format that causes the issue and is handled differently by different brands of processor. When we get H265 or AV1 12 bit video and 12 bit monitors/TVs the video will be as good as the raw photos, until then we are stuck with 8 bit video (only 256 different levels of each colour) which makes these problems a lot more visible.

In the last video I posted, there are two segments,
  • In the first segment I forgot to press the Exposure lock so it shows this problem, the sky starts off blue, as the train passes the sky turns over exposed white, and as the train leaves the sky goes blue again.
  • In the second segment I did press the exposure lock, and because I wanted to see the detail of the train and I knew that it would be in shadow, I deliberately locked the exposure with the sky over exposed, this time as the train passes nothing changes in the sky, the sky is not good quality but it was the train that I wanted. It would have been better to have been the other side of the train so that it was not in shadow, then I could have had an OK exposure for the sky but that was not possible without a helicopter (a drone would have been illegal).
So think about your exposure settings, location, lighting, time of day etc before pressing the record button and you can get significantly better video.

This isn't exactly great quality, but at least the train is not just a dark silhouette against a bright sky, with a Yi 4K it probably would be!

Let's back 2 days ago, while you posted a SJ6 link like a normal user, I pointed you out you are worker at SJCam and then you confirmed.
And yesterday I rechecked the rules, it seems I didn't do any wrong, you can read the rules #5, #6.
Now thanks to this your marked as retailer now, you can be your self now, you don't want to hide in the corner, you can talk freely and give directly support to SJCam user.
Then it seems you can't stop talking, talked no great ideas from GitUp, complain VIOFO support for SJCam which was talked some month ago on this forum, I really don't want to talk this in public again.

While GoPro users use "Be a Hero" as slogan, we introduced "Be Yourself" to your boss, even now your company used this at retail store. I believe you are familiar this picture.
I wish SJcam and you can always be yourself.
SJ BE YOURSELF.jpg

And you try to avoid my question, I repeat it again, does XTCAM work at SJCam, what's relationship with SJCam, is it mean official?
Of course you can still keep silent on this question, as I know someone still need use this account, maybe someday XTACAM got some new leak messages, and post does Git3 really use 1200mAh battery?

@gitup, the linked video was to show a graphic example of a problem Git2 faces and shares with others...

As here people was talking about SJ6 and all those cameras have a Novatek chipset, i wrote to show a common problem that afffects no mattering the brand.

That's the relation i saw so is not "that unrelated". It's a thing that support should resolve as well and this topic is for "support" also...

I think you didn't like how people has expressed about the smartphone app and other issues really, more than a simple video. Is fair to have both worlds talking since here's plenty of fanboys aporting nothing to camera development.

Finally, the cause of the last Git2 improvements has been the critic feedback about the camera, with suggestions, videos, images and user experiences that have been shared by users.

Fanboys trying to defend what is not defendable (images/video samples can't be denied) has contributed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to enhance the Git2. Those have been all attempts to hide deffects "going through the branches" to avoid the real issue.

The video I mention is a separately Firefly 7S review without no text but you deleted it soon, not this video, I don't mind video comparison.

Anyway thanks to your great help and suggestions for Git2 before, maybe you didn't get a satisfy answer or solution for the color and expose.
For this issues, I have admitted in other post, something related to the gamma settings, can't do much for that, maybe it is limitation for Novatek.
Even now I can not understand why you deleted all of the posts you posted before and make the thread is not readable.

Regarding the development, thanks to many users suggestions and feedback, we do better or implement faster for some features like below:
1. First implement the shutter speed
2. Wi-Fi STA mode
3. Photo shutter speed work in time-lapse mode
4. Good Gyro on Git2 lens which is still used in other company new products, so extra work for Gyro.
5. RAW support and RAW2DNG tool(contributed by users).
and so on.

Not all of user post on forum, some "fanboys" or users send email or submit ticket to us directly, we also learned from there.

When is release date of gitup test app for ios and how to became beta tester?
