nanoQ 0903

I have a ideal. Is this the lend is fixed with len holder by
The point of a new product is that we shouldn't have to tinker with it so much. However, GPS, focus, & mount issue; it can take a toll on the end user. Luckily, my Git2 just arrive too so the nanoQ will be on the back burner. I'm hoping Rayman will bring a solution for those who are toying/tweeking with the product. I love the nanoQ. It's small and discreet. I like the fact the the night quality is almost on par as the SG's series without the $$$ price. But if I a choice to go back I would've paid $200 for the SG and not have to tinker with the nanoQ. I've made my bed, now I got to lie in it.;)
I have both of them and I think: "Tiền nào của nấy - you get what you pay for" it's true.
ex a very littile thing: GPS of SG9665 take 30 second to lock the first time. All mini I have tested take from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. And a lot of other little detail. :)

Much better visibility in low light :)

I received my 0903 a few weeks ago and didnt pay mind to the focus because I thought it was because of the glare from on the windshield but having since used the CPL filter the focus is very short :/.

Did u notice that the plates is not clear. You dashboard area seemed focused.

Yes, I don't understand why this still such a common problem.

I've just updated the firmware to the latest one posted in this thread and have refocused it as best I could and will test it out today.

These two shots are after the re-focusing. The first being with both myself and the car ahead of my having stopped and the latter being the farther distance at which the license plate remains legible. It'd be to better the focus but at the moment this seems to be the best I can do.

Nicely done, how about gps? Did u have any gps problem?

@Sunny, please use this firmware to update your nanoQ and have a try again.
the IQ in last firmware was adjusted to improve the night view but seems too much for day light.

3.29 log:
1, revise GPS STAMP on screen
2, correct SCREEN OFF DELAY
3, correct time zone setting -- please test
4, optimize IQ setting, reduce the exposure -- please test
5, correct HDR icon display
6, increase video bit rate to 16M and 20M, please test

16M bit rate version:
www.nanodashcamera.com/firmware/mar.29/mini0903-20160329-test16M.7z
20M bit rate version:
www.nanodashcamera.com/firmware/mar.29/mini0903-20160329-test20M.7z

guys please check if this exposure is ok for both day and night, and if the different bit rates works for you camera&card.
looking forward your feedback.
Thanks
Rayman

I have received the Mini 903 camera before several days ago. (Bought from Ebay, Estore009)

2, correct SCREEN OFF DELAY - RESOLVED
3, correct time zone setting -- please test - RESOLVED - It keeps the setting after the switch off/on
4, optimize IQ setting, reduce the exposure -- please test - NOT RESOLVED - exposure is too high at day time
5, correct HDR icon display - YES, there is
6, increase video bit rate to 16M and 20M, please test- (Not tested yet)

GPS issues: no lock, no stamping, no satellite symbol.

I had it in the FW mini0903-20160316, but not accurate location.

With this new FW I don`t have it at all.

Moreover the small square plastic clip to lock the mount into the camera is too small. It cannot lock the camera.

Any suggestion, solution, please?

how does upgrading the firmware work? i dumped the firmware upgrade file on the micro sd card, booted the camera with it... nothing happens. i dont see any option in the menu to manually upgrade the firmware either.

Yeah, that was a tricky part also :)

I have Transcend microSDXC UHS-I, 64GB memory card.

I have tried to format it in the Dash Cam. The Dash Cam has accepted it, without any errors. I could make records on it.
I`ve copied the firmware .bin file to the MicroSD. The Dash Cam doesn`t recognized the FW file. Nothing has happened after I switch it Off/On.
I`ve took out the MicroSD from the Dash Cam and put it in the Card Reader. I`ve opened it in the "MiniTool Partition Wizard (Free Edition)".Here was the surprise! The MicroSD was formatted as exFAT!

1.)
I`ve formatted it to FAT32 with default Cluster Size, Type as Primary Partition
2.)
I`ve unpacked the mini0903-20160329-test20M.7z
3.)
From unpacked mini0903-20160329-test20M.7z, I`ve copied the FIRMWARE.bin to the MicroSD
4.)
I`ve put back the MicroSD to the Dash Cam
5.)
I Switched Off and On the Dash Cam. And voilà: It has upgraded automatically!

After the upgrading, you should delete this Firmware.bin file from the MicroSD (connected Dash Cam to PC as Storage or from the card reader) to avoid the upgrading loop.

BTW before upgrading I`ve noticed some kind of yellow "Post error Message" or what ever on the Dash Cam`s display, but it was so fast that I had to record it to read it. It was "Memory Error" and "Please Insert SD Card". That was because of exFAT probably, but it was working...

It would be nice, if they can "slow down" these messages...

Hey @Rayman.Chan do you have any updates for us? What is the status for these issues?

- New mount
- GPS
- Firmware

I had an E Mail from Rayman stating the below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Parking guard cable now can insert to camera body directly with the new GPS mount. The new mount is under production now.

We are still re-searching on the hot pixels fixing now.

I really hope that the new mount in production is GoPro compatible...

Nothing happens?
You should see the red LED light on and flashing for around 20 secs and then flashing fast when it finishes.
Make sure to delete it afterwards or it'll do the same each time.

One more issue: @Rayman.Chan
The GPS mount doesn't lock anymore.
It works but just slides out without pressing the tab.

The mount is the key issue with gps and steadiness of video. While driving, I have notice the mount to be ajar after the end of a drive.

yes we found this problem when we got the molded plastics, then we start new molds for new mount.
we have make 3 times modification on the new mold, just make sure the fitting between mount and housng is in best condition, not too tight and too loose to plug and remove. Fortunately we found the best fitting days before.
