New Firmware for 808 #18 DR32

My dr32 has perfect day and night recording and the sound is decent since the firmware upgrade so I'm very happy with it. It hasn't had any problems with freezing either and I've let it run for hours.
The company have already shown they listen to customers by first releasing a better mount and then a firmware upgrade, so I'm happy with them too - they certainly seem to be more helpful than most manufacturers.

No freezes here with the latest firmware.

Those who previously experienced freezes, do you still get them?

How can one check if they have the latest firmware already?

I think I have updated mine, but the noise issue does not seem to have changed too much

I have just received my DR32 and contemplating the firmware update, but how do I check which firmware the unit has shipped with? thanks

Don't think you can....

If you're not sure, I guess you could try applying the firmware again.

No sound issues on mine straight out of the box so guessing it has the new firmware pre-installed, not going to risk updating it unnecessarily

Just received my mini DR32 screen mount I ordered off Ebay ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221218409587 ... and see right of photo ) and am extremely impressed how small it is, photo attached also shows smaller (than original) 3rd suction mount I also bought (left) and the original self adhesive mount (centre). The mount has the added advantage of being able to quickly detach the DR32 whilst leaving the adhesive part of the mount attached to the screen.

Interesting, according to that photo and what you say, the 'original' mount is the one in the centre - correct?

However, when I bought mine from Foxoffer, I get 2 mounts, 1 suction and 1 adhesive.

The adhesive one I got is the one on the right.

Where did you buy your DR32?

I bought mine from Power-gps on Ebay, cost £66 ($99), had a choice of adhesive mount or suction mount, went for adhesive but decided I preferred the smaller quick release mount as shown. I decided against the original suction mount as it appeared quite large, bought a cheap smaller one but probably won't use it now. I primarily bought my DR32 to use a cheap alternative actioncam to a GoPro for mountain biking and with my motorbike, for the mountainbike I bought a quick release handlebar mount as what it available with DR32 manufacturers bundle and already owned Lithium-Ion power pack to power it, for the motorbike I've made a diy chestmount which works well

mine had problems with focus. few meters ahead image is clear, but bot over 4-5m from outside http://www.girlshare.ro/32468676.9

so i disassamble camera and readjust lens till image was almost perfect. display is to small and very hard to make it perfect.
no english translations, but probably you will understand from images what to do http://youtu.be/bY8DrB-0FA4

Welcome!
Your video was already posted here, in the other thread, about the camera, because in this topic is about firmware.
Great work!

1. Can you post some pictures here about how you mounted the camera?

2. How did you removed the Hetai logo?

3. About the video from the girlshare you should use a girl too see the... focus...

enjoy,

Could use hdmi out to help set the focus?

I think for the focus adjustment should be used the Video out, not that small screen. For any camera, not only for this.

How did you color that silver ring, black? I Used a sharpie on mine and that makes it a lot less noticeable from the outside.

I think is possible even to find some black rubber flat O-Ring and stick it with a gentle glue. You just must to know the dimensions.

Interesting the Patriot F3 dash cam that looks remarkably similar to the DR32, I see there is test of the F3 here .. http://am.u-car.com.tw/17911.html , and an updated firmware is available here .. http://www.patriot.com.tw/download_f3.html . I noticed the firmware for the DR32 (DR32_FW20130122) is 4,259,840 bytes, and the firmware for the Patriot F3 (F3_FW0218) is 6,401,392 bytes. I wonder if there is a difference between the firmwares other than the obvious size differences and logo's etc, and whether or not they are interchangeable ?

PS: Translate pages with Google Translate :)

It's a good inference that the two cams are using the same mainboard, but that doesn't guarantee that the firmwares are interoperable. Insofar as there is NO clear path to restore our DR32's back to even the stock firmware, experimentation would be completely at our own risk (or our willingness to abuse a DR32 seller's warranty policy ).

I've looked through the latest DR32 firmware using a hex editor, and there seem to be a lot of human readable debug statements embedded in it. Clearly there is a version of the firmware that has debugging enabled, and if Hetai were to provide this to their customers (or if there is a secret combination of button presses at startup to enable it), I'm sure that they would find that their rate of development would greatly increase. It would certainly nail down what exactly the cam is doing right before it locks up for some people. Knock on wood, mine hasn't done that so far. Maybe I have an older version of the hardware? Who knows. Hetai certainly didn't make it easy to tell what version of hardware or firmware is installed on any particular camera sample.

One annoying design flaw I've discovered is that the camera stops recording during any menu adjustments. This is a big no-no in my book. The whole point of having a dash cam is that it should be recording at ALL times -- even if I'm fooling around with the menus.

What's the easiest way to get in touch with the Hetai software engineers? Clearly they are not reading these boards, and they can' fix what they don't know about.

People can report here.
Hetai will receive the requests.

So your request is that camera continuously record when setup the camera?
But this can be impossible in some situations, for example changing the resolution will restart the recording.
