Thanks for 6Nj Beta comparison, these sharpness levels guided the Stable version 50-60-70. Always a complex task comparing footage from Lenses with different focus. Your A119S Lens has near perfect center focus. When weather improves can you record short clip with Lens angle up 1/2 click. The current position is good for increased ground brightness, but angle up slightly for realistic scene brightness. Want to verify the hood isn't reflecting too much light also drive under power lines/wires for halo test if possible.
Ok, after many cloudy days and finding a location to stop and grab some footage it is finally here. Unfortunately I didn't realize the sun was going to be where it was when I grabbed this footage. I can get more if this isn't good enough.

On a side note I received the package from Viofo! Thank you!! Now to figure out which camera to install the new lens...

Well I had a great video, but waited too long and over-wrote it, but I have the photo I took.
This is why having a dashcam can be useful.

Great 6Ns night footage, that new Lens1 is excellent, no need to re-Focus a new Lens unless you are unlucky in Lens Lottery. Thanks for the WDR on comparison, good example of why it shouldn't be used at night, why did you change format to MOV? thanks for sharing these clips.

Thanks for the 6Nj static photos, shows the wide range of sharpness levels, working on improving the stepping between them now.

Thanks BChobbyist, I changed the format by mistake as I was trying the dashcam viewer software. I will get more footage over the weekend as we go to a little cottage in the lake district for a weekend rest so will have plenty of footage of foliage and country side.

DCTeam Update:
All recent shared footage has been reviewed and compared resulting in another IQ discovery. The 6N series MODs have covered a wide range of configurations, some are solid but require a tweak. With this new Sharpness control discovery my plan is to tweak the Best 6N MOD and reduce the Sharpness intensity difference between the 3 levels. The last 6Nv version has other changes I'd like tested such as Saturation value, need all footage and feedback on acceptability for next 6Nw version. Will pause all A119S development until more footage is collected in next few days, thank you for your continued support.

Note: removed MOD-6Nu since Saturation was unacceptable, no test footage needed.

Created new A119S - Beta version 6Nv , See post #1 of thread for details and ChangeLog.
Welcome to Wacky Weekday MODs !!
Request footage & feedback on all 3 levels of Sharpness, Brightness and Saturation under all lighting conditions. This MOD should be better than previous 3 for IQ balance.
More adjustments made to Sharpness levels, Edge Detection to 138 and Saturation to 110 , all feedback is needed.

I personally think it's the best footage to date from my camera with the new lens but need to move the camera from the left side of the car to the centre below the mirror to see if I can remove the light shadows to the right side. Maybe and maybe it is my windscreen is the problem as I have HUD ( Heads Up Display ) which reflects on the windscreen so some sort of coating may be applied to that side of the screen as I know it's not a normal BMW windscreen and 3x the price.

Overall I am pretty impressed with the results even where it is now but I will be moving the camera to below the mirror to make central. I will also be doing away with the fat GPS mount and using one of the thinner non GPS mounts to get the camera a little closer to the screen as I never use GPS.

Great early 6Nv test footage, the saturation colors look acceptable and less vivid, should reduce blown-out whites, Normal Sharpness level slightly too high and Strong needs adjustment, Soft is good. thanks for sharing.
Request some night footage at all 3 levels if possible.

Very Good 6Nv cloudy day Beta footage, you Sir have a perfectly focused Lens and 6Nv normal works very well on it. All HUD windshields affect Dashcam clarity with extra reflections but yours is acceptable, in direct sunshine will be worse. Great idea to move Lens closer to windshield glass that always improves video quality.

Your DCTeam level has risen, you now qualify as DRD = Dashcam Research & Development , congratz!

Great 6Nv blue sky footage, agreed the daytime clips are bright and also suggest -2 saturation, this MOD uses the brighter IQ from v1.01 (superior night IQ) which is being tweaked for 6Nw. The morning clip is excellent! was that also Strong Sharpness? thanks for this very useful footage.

Yes, also strong sharpness. The footage was taken at 6:45 AM, but half an hour earlier was completely dark outside.

Very good rainy night 6Nv footage, very surprised all 3 sharpness levels looked so good, clips suggest -2 saturation to reduce whites, great assortment of test footage, thanks for sharing and labeling the clips, very helpful.

Request DCTeam member test 6Nv for :
- Parking Mode 5fps
- GPS startup connection delay, (must disable screensaver) receiving reports the GPS connection takes over 3mins (may only apply to A119).

Interesting 6Nt road test footage, drivers really like to get in your way. Absolutely agree color is poor in last 3 MODs due to -20pt saturation reduction to lessen white-outs. Using Sat110 for next MOD-6Nv, looks good so far but a long way from vivid colors. We'll have to decide what level of saturation to use going forward. Keep in mind anyone can request custom MOD with high/low color depth.
Replacement 6Nv below with enhancements from v1.01

Yeah, generally typical Winnipeg drivers. Block you, cut you off, switch to your lane then instantly slow down, don't know how to use a merge lane, get offended because they don't understand a zipper merge, etc. If I wasn't such a relaxed guy I'd probably be in an indefinite rage on the road.

I'm already liking 6Nv much more than 6Nt. The picture is brighter and the colours are improved. Whatever enhancements you've added from 1.01, it looks a lot better. I don't have any sunny day video to compare, but there is a big difference between cloudy 6Nt vs cloudy 6Nv.

Usual settings - Soft Sharpness

Morning Traffic
Another cloudy and snowy day. I figure we won't be getting any sun for a while now, just clouds or snow.

Night Compilation
A few random clips joined together. Highway, intersections, parking lot, residential skating. There was a lot of black ice, so I'm assuming a bunch of accidents reported tomorrow. I have my winter tires and I was still sliding around. The night quality is looking pretty good.

Great 6Nv footage, noticed drivers still get in your way and you like to skate on the road, the night footage is amazingly clear using Soft level. The Brightness will need to drop once you see sunny footage along with few points Saturation, the snow will be very good test for high Saturation/Contrast, thanks for sharing your videos.
Working on Brightness variation now, I prefer the vivid colors so will request VIOFO include Saturation Menu Option along with +/-12 level Contrast control.

Depending on what IQ Controls VIOFO adds to next Firmware release DCTeam can offer 4 versions of each Stable MOD :
1) Brighter Contrast using v1.01 IQ + Vivid colour Saturation
2) Brighter Contrast using v1.01 IQ + Normal colour Saturation
3) Darker Contrast using v4.03 IQ + Vivid colour Saturation
4) Darker Contrast using v4.03 IQ + Normal colour Saturation
Determining a single acceptable balance for everyone using different Lenses probably won't be achievable until more IQ Controls are added to Menu.

Best night footage to date I think, but I also think that the white stuff impacts the picture.
