Back to dash camera related info....
I was able to get a few test driving loops completed this morning (very high/thin clouds). Here are the thermal images from the two A139 Pro 3CH production dash cameras I have setup in my car.
Total Operating Time: 20 Minutes / Outside Temp 50F (10C) / Inside Car Temp 68F (20C) / 3CH 4K 2160P 24fps - Left = HDR Enabled / Right = HDR Disabled
These were the temps as captured by my TOPDON TC001 thermal camera after driving the first loop of my normal test route. The temps seemed a bit low. Loops two and three show higher temps.
Total Operating Time: 40 Minutes / Outside Temp 50F (10C) / Inside Car Temp 68F (20C) / 3CH 4K 1600P 30fps - Left = HDR Enabled / Right = HDR Disabled
The temps noted in the thermal images definitely increased compared to the first loop. The temp at the middle of the front camera had warmed to 137.5F (58.6C) for the left camera (HDR enabled) and 134.4F (56.8C) for the camera with HDR disabled.
Total Operating Time: 58 Minutes / Outside Temp 50F (10C) / Inside Car Temp 68F (20C) / 3CH 4K 2160P 24fps - Left = HDR Enabled / Right = HDR Disabled
I wanted to see if the first loop's camera temps were low simply because they had not come up to full operating temperature or if the 4K 2160P 24fps video resolution was somehow operating cooler than 4K 1600P 30fps resolution. It turns out the 4K 2160P 24fps temps after the third loop were slightly warmer than loop 2's temps with 4K 1600P 30fps video resolution setting. It looks like loop 1's temps were lower simply because the A139 Pro front dash camera had not fully warmed up after 20 minutes of operation.
Loop One - Right Camera - 3CH 4K 2160P 24fps - FW v1.0_1115 - HDR Disabled - Interior Camera Video Did Not Record
Yesterday, I installed the two new A139 Pro 3CH dash cameras in my car. Both dash cameras were successfully recording video for all three video channels (Front, Interior and Rear). Today, I powered up the dash cameras and both A139 Pro 3CH dash cameras announced "Recording. Three channels started".
When I arrived home and copied the video files from the microSD card installed in the A139 Pro 3CH with HDR disabled (right camera in my installation), I found that during the first test loop the camera only recorded front and rear camera video files. There were no video files from the interior camera until I turned on Wi-Fi to allow me to change the resolution setting for loop 2. The camera recorded front, rear and interior video files the entire remainder of my test loop driving.
File listing showing front, rear and interior video files were created at the end of the installation on 7-Dec-2022. The start of loop 1 on 8-Dec-2022 has no interior video files.
At the end of loop 1, I parked the car to adjust the settings in both A139 Pro 3CH dash cameras. I changed the settings in the left (HDR enabled) dash camera first and the moved on to the right camera.
- I turned on Wi-Fi
- Connected my Android tablet over 5 GHz Wi-Fi to the dash camera,
- I stopped video recording
- Entered the settings page
- Changed the video resolution from 4K 2160P 24fps + 1080p 24fps + 1080p 24fps to 4K 1600P 30fps + 1080p 30fps + 1080p 30fps
- Exited the settings screen
- Restarted video recording
- Exited the VIOFO app
- Disconnected my Android tablet from the dash camera Wi-Fi
- Turned off Wi-Fi
- Powered down the dash camera
- Powered it up again with the new resolution setting in place.
I performed the power down/up steps just to be sure that using Wi-Fi and changing the video resolution setting did not create/introduce any other issue during my tests.
I found that when I pressed the Wi-Fi button to turn on Wi-Fi on the camera not recording the interior video, the interior video started recording at that point in time and for the remainder of my test loops. I confirmed my actions by viewing the interior video from my VIOFO T130 3CH interior camera.
The file listing shows that the interior video was being recorded at the end of loop 2 and at the start of loop 3. Loop 3 had the video resolution restored to 4K 2160P 24fps + 1080p 24fps + 1080p 24fps.
There appears to be some issue/bug causing the interior camera video from being recorded after the A139 Pro was initially powered up. I examined all cables and found them to be fully plugged into their connection sockets. I'll have to see if this issue repeats.
