Viofo A329T (unboxing & first impressions) (Sony Starvis 2 IMX678, Wi-Fi 6/GPS, HDR, Novatek NT98530, 4K front + 2.5K telephoto + 2.5K rear, HDR all)

Not sure if this has been mentioned, nice idea that you can kinda setup impact as a failsafe, using normal parking modes until power gets low.

I'm not sure if the voltage cutoff works with dashcam batteries though, does the voltage drop slowly and is voltage a good indicator of charge?

Should work fine most of the time, you will probably want a fairly low cutoff voltage for a lithium dashcam battery, but that depends on how many weeks of low power mode you want.

There may be a few issues in winter north of the Arctic circle, since lithium batteries do drop their voltages a bit then, but it is not a very critical setting anyway.

talked with support, best option is to order with waterproof and add the normal rear camera. The camera will be all listed as accessories by the 20th of May
Aussie here too, just wondering is there a difference if I order it from Viofo.com instead of Viofo au website? Because the au website is still the old A329, not the S.

With the Low Power Impact Detection mode available, I might consider hardwiring an A329S to my hybrid car with its small 12V battery. I've not wanted to hardwire anything to my car since I realised how small that battery is and the consequence of running it flat.

If you opt for the T variant, does it zoom permanently?

What happens if something happens near the headlight? Does the T-variant not go beyond that? Can you see everything that happens in front? Even at close range?

And with the hybrid parking mode, you can have 1 hour of low bitrate for supermarket parking. before it switches to impact detection, with very little impact on your battery.

It does not have an adjustable zoom, it is permanently zoomed in when compared to the main camera lens.

At the distance of your headlamps, you probably want to look at the image from your main front camera, because the field of view of the telephoto is narrow, but it is almost in focus at headlamp distance, properly in focus a little further away up to infinity. I think the factory are focusing it on around 15 meters, but a plate at 5 meters can be easily read, the plate is pretty big at that distance!

viofo.com is our official website and we will ship the items from China. While the viofo.au is our dealer's websitw in AU, and they will ship the items domestically.

Complementary to each other. Would say it works much the same as the Telephoto for the A229 Pro where it's a fixed focal length, you have the Telephoto for the zoomed in action, and the existing front for the normal wide shot action

Just a thought, with the HK6 and hybrid parking mode does the physical switch on the HK6 act as the secondary (main) cutoff?
eg. set 12.0v for switch from normal to impact, then have 11.8v set on the HK6 so if the car is left for ages, impact mode doesn't drain the battery?

Correct.

Interesting, is rear camera from A329 will be work with A329S? Same sensor and same connector... 🤔
The A329 rear camera is the same camera provided with the A329S and A329T 2CH/3CH bundles, except for the "W" bundle versions which provide the waterproof rear camera.

*Cut-off Voltage is only available with the HK6 hardwire kit.

As far as I can tell, the HK6 hardwire kit is not available yet.

Also, is the default length of the rear camera cable at 6m long enough for an f150? Or do I need to order an additional rear camera cable of 8m?

And except vent holes that was added for S/T versions. But if you checked A329S with rear cam from A329 and confirm that it is works - it is great. Thank's.

Thank you for this, the mind boggles at all the options, but this is a strong strategy by Viofo though 🙂.

The only one that I'm trying to wrap my head around is the A329WW, who would need two rear waterproof cams..

Choices are good. It allows their latest camera to have several customizable options.

The prototype A329S 3-channel box I received had a rear camera without any vent holes in it. The new A329S/T interior and telephoto cameras that I received do have vent holes in their case. Their case is larger than the A329 rear camera as well.

It looks like VIOFO has revised the rear camera case to include vent holes based on the pictures on their pre-sale pages.

I'm getting another A329S [production?] box sent to me that should arrive in the next week or so. I'll see what's in the box.

Glad to see the A329S products finally available for sale on viofo.com! I am buying the A329T 2CH with the short 0.15m telephoto cable (almost missed that choice). This doesn't come with the CPL filter for the telephoto, which I read is a new RTC-400. Will the same CPL-500 filter work or do I need to wait until a new accessory becomes available?

The CPL-500 will not fit on the A329T telephoto camera case. The CPL-500 will not fit on the A329S/T rear [interior] camera case as well if VIOFO has changed the case to the one with the ventilation slots.

Here are two pictures of the CPL-500 and the A329T telephoto camera. The CPL-500 is too small to fit.

At this point it appears that the needed hardware kit to have the voltage cutoff work and the cpl lenses that will work with the new telephoto and rear camera are not available. So I’m guessing the best play is to preorder, in my case, the a329t and Bluetooth button and use the car charger until the HK6 wired kit is available. Does that sound right?

We are going on a road trip in July and would like to have a dashcam in my truck before we leave. My old street guardian cam quit working after just over 6 years and I’ve been putting off getting a new one.

I must say that with all the hype around this release, the "May 5th embargo" the "May 19th release" , the wait and sees , etc etc, I'm totally disappointed that nothing of real substance was released. Just a revamped A229 Pro as the A329 was just a revamped A229. Same body style same look no lte ,no cloud no real substance. If I had to choose between the BlackVue Dr970X IR Box and the A329SWT , I'll choose the former. The A329 as great of a Dashcam it's championed to be , it still falls short of modern tech. JMO.

I don't need LTE or Cloud, so I'll take 4K@60fps, dual Starvis 2, telephoto, and wi-fi 6. I care about dashcam video and image quality vs. cloud connectivity.
