Viofo, let’s go! A229 Pro 3-Channel Dash Camera review (+ RTC300 telephoto review & Vantrue Nexus 4 Pro shoot-out!)

We will release a new model called VS1 that may meet part of your desires, stay tuned.
A suggestion, could you please update the firmware in the future to solve the problem of the a229pro three camera version having only three camera options for video resolution and not being able to enable only one or two cameras. Because sometimes only one is needed, which is also to save space considerations, thanks

All the buttons on the camera have been endowed with functions, so there are no spare buttons to be used. To make it easier to plug/unplug, we have used a 3.5mm connector and type-c plug on the interior/rear cables. So you can simply unplug them when you just need the front one.

Thans for your reply. This is the settings interface for Vantrue n4, please refer to it。It should be easy to resolve by updating the software, without the need to improve the hardware。

Final Conclusion for heat testing with the Viofo A239 Pro vs. Vantrue Nexus 4 Pro.

I haven't encountered any further overheating issues with either brand, even in 41 to 43 Celsius heat here in Perth. The charts here seem to back this up, as the Viofo is already operating at a lower temperature baseline than the Vantrue: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threa...k-front-2k-rear-1080p-cabin.49828/post-611264

Going by the data collected, and our observations, I believe that Viofo's solution of turning off the camera to avoid overheating, is a better one. This will avoid any potential damage to the internal components, and it's implementation is well thought-out.

Quick sample of the new 4K 21:9 recording resolution option now available with the Viofo A229 Pro, in the latest v1.3 firmware. Bitrate of the video while recording in 3-CH mode remains the same at 36MBps, but of course the resolution drops down from 3840x2160 to 3840x1600. Still a nice-looking option in case one does not require extra video information at the top and bottom of the frame.

Just a few photos of the retail boxing experience for the new Viofo Telephoto Camera for the A229 Pro / A229 Plus series, the RTC300. A pretty barebones experience, but that is all that is required for this camera, which contains a USB-C cable and the RTC300 camera itself. On the camera itself, there is a white LED itself which I wish was a little shorter in length. @viofo @VIOFO-Support

Will share some video samples soon.

Some thoughts and video samples from the new Viofo RTC300 Telephoto camera. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the camera itself, and it comes in at a reasonable price point. Although there is always room for improvement, I believe it serves it's intended purpose well and provides an auxiliary experience to the main camera unit itself.

Hopefully in future we see perhaps a four-camera solution where we are not having to sacrifice the existing rear camera for the A229 series, in order to accommodate the RTC300. Or a two-lens solution in the same front-camera unit, but due to thermal constraints/chipset, this may be a ways off.

Holy chromatic aberration batman

If you're talking about the first daytime sample, I was worried a bit about that but the late afternoon sun was literally right in my eyes. Plus no CPL filter either haha.

Fairly high chromatic aberration seems to be normal with this telephoto lens in some lighting conditions, and doesn't really affect the license plate reading. Not ideal for photography, but that is not what it is for.
