I was thinking about the settings changes I do each time after I install a new mod or firmware, and it's going like this:
1. Beep sound - startup only (I like when the cam reminds me it's alive each time I turn on the vehicle, but I hate the beeps when I press buttons, especially when I do the initial setup)
2. Set time-zone
3. Turn GPS on
4. Hide the GPS info
5. The rest depends on what I want to test, usually sharpness.
6. I used to modify the license plate number and car model, but got to lazy to do it each time.
Some people do even more changes, and everyone prefers the settings he likes, which other people don't like...
IMHO a really useful feature would be an option to have a settings file on the card, allowing auto restore settings from the file once a new mod\firmware installed\updated.
If a mod adds new features, they will not be registered in this file until first change, so they would appear as default values as defined in the mod.
This way, everyone will be satisfied by the update results, without a need to set all the settings from the scratch, or wish for changing default settings by VIOFO.
I understand that mods alone can't do such thing, but if VIOFO would consider it as a part of a future firmware it would be nice.
