GitUp Git2- Support, FAQ, Review

I have tried to fly my friends phantom 1 with hiro 3 silver as video source and his fat shark goggles as display, but i dont like the wide angle view you get with that.

Sure if you just fly high there is no problems, but when you get down low and in between things it start to be hard judging distance to things.
So we normally fly with a analog CCTV camera for the view, and then the gopro to record what ever go on.

What i really would like to see is a small PTZ camera for use on planes and quadcopters, 5 - 10 X zoom would be fine for recreational use.
They have googles with head tracking but that's serious expensive gear. This is more my budget:

One thing that will allow me to use the gitup camera for fpv is the ability to change the fov in the menu. Way easier than switching cameras or lenses!

Yeah head tracking is pretty cool, would be super with FPV and not least a zoom.
I am well avare of the little servo gimbals that allow for P & T, just need to add Zoom.

I assume you can allso change FOV on the gopro 3 camera, we just have not bothered with it, and things have fizzed out some what as my friends quadcopter have not been in use for over 1 year.
Last flight was new years evening 2014, and the time before that was summer 2014.

Have you tried flying using the git2 as your FPV source? Lag seemed negligible in your short demo. How does it work in flight?
Not yet, the weather is terrible. I also currently only have a P3 which has it's own camera and gimbal so FPV on that is a bit more complicated. I'm still waiting for some parts to arrive to build a 250 class racer.

this will be my first RC aircraft... trying to keep it cheap as i can't afford a phantom. should be interesting to be sure!

I also ordered some spare props as well as a cheap boscam VTX/VRX. gonna try using an old 7" lilliput monitor from when i had a PC built into my car (before everyone had smartphones and large capacity portable MP3 players) but if that doesn't work, the $25 goggles are on my radar. and even if it does work, goggles seem pretty neat.

I was also looking at that eachine, but i want a BNF one (bind and fly) as i have already got a 9CH remote and receiver. I'm also "recycling" older hardware as i've got a portable TV/Monitor which i power with a small Li-Po. I have also seen the 23 euro DIY googles from Hobbyking and I'm considering buying them. For VTX/VRX I'm going to use a generic eachine / boscam 832 series KIT which i have written a review about HERE

I'd like to introduce the quick start recording feature.

  • Turn on the "quick capture" option in the setting mode.
  • Press shutter button once starts video recording immediately; once more, it'll stop recording and power off.
  • Press shutter button for several seconds, the camera will take photos automatically; once more, it'll stop shooting and power off.

In continuous photo mode the short pressing (when camera is taking pictures) will stop taking pictures. Long pressing on shutter button will turn off the camera.
The camera will work normally even in Quick Capture mode if using the Power button to turn it on.

enjoy,
Mtz

My worry with this feature is it would turn on and start recording in my pocket or bag, killing the battery and eating space on the SD card. But I'm glad it's there for people who want it, and can be turned off for people like me. 🙂

Yes, there is option to turn it on/off.
If you take the camera on hand, it is easier to turn it on/off if you want to record some short video every time.

I like the power on start recording feature, i have used both on my Innovv C1 and allso use it on the joovuu x cam when i use that one off car.

The Git2 is looking more and more interesting. Does anyone know if its mp4 video files are editable in GoPro Studio?

Thanks for the help

Hi gitup official account,

I currently live in Beijing, China. How do I purchase the Git2 over here? Can you please provide a link or the Chinese name for your brand?
Thanks

Zan

Gearbest sells it and they are in china. Do they not sell to domestic customers?

Hey Gibson99,

Thanks, I'll check out Gearbest. (and I have used the contact form on Gitup's site) I guess I had assumed the manufacturer had direct local sales lines or had stock with local stores. I don't even know the Chinese brand-name they use domestically so I haven't been able to find much but a search for Gitup itself has yielded little.

I just did a small edit of a GitUp Git2 (modified by me) video file in GoPro Studio and saving as Highest Quality. (The following screenshot is from a Medium Quality test, not from the High.).

GitUp video in GoPro studio.webp

The result of High Quality encoding is this:

Original videos snapshots:
GitUp Git2 Park test day for GoPro Studio.mp4_snapshot_00.00_[2015.12.02_13.09.57].webp GitUp Git2 Park test day GoPro Studio High Quality.avi_snapshot_00.00_[2015.12.02_13.10.19].webp

My question is: why I want to destroy the image quality of my video? Just to add some fade or titles? Because for cut and join I can use other tools which are not re-encoding the video.

enjoy,
Mtz
