I believe you can use directusb program with bin files too

Here was some discussion and download link as a last resort, looks different because it is G2 type fw.

i removed hyperlink so you have to copy it manually to browser.

When I tried to do this through directusb I figured out that it would not work because the screen does not light up at all. (this occured even before I opened it).
I also tried doing it through the sd-card with no luck, going to do it a bit more to see if there is something I have missed out.
Kinda frustrating..

Directusb can work even if there is no screen available.
You must try all three method to enter usb mode.

Use windows xp and keep speakers on, it is easy to listen is computer connecting usb device or not.
If you can't connect camera to computer then there is not much you can do, only thing i can think of is try to load it from memory card using every firmware name that there is, vfirmware.bin, firmware.bin, texet.bin, yamaha.bin...is there more :?:
that's because if you don't know what firmware you have now you can't know what fw name it expect to find.

Can anyone confirm that the camera DX sells here: http://aud.dx.com/product/5-0mp-cmos-wi ... f9E_pLI2Fk

Is 100% genuine with the orange menu, GPS logger, G-Sensor, and the Ambarella processor?

As a cabbie I'm looking for a good quality dash camera, I was trying to decide between the GS1000 and the GS2000.

DX can't even confirm it, you can ask but they will normally reply that they don't know, going by the feedback of others at least

The differences are basically cosmetic

That's what had me worried. Apart from AliExpress is there anyone else that sells the orange menu version with all its features?

I'm not sure, Samoon that make the model DX are supposedly selling don't even list this model anymore, it's reasonably outdated now

Do you mean that the GS1000 is reasonably outdated now? If so what would you recommend?

It is so called original, but not very good quality anymore, parts inside are not same that they were at the beginning of sale.
Buy GT300W, much better value for your money.

Correction, gt300w do not have gps.

I don't really need GPS if the camera is a better picture quality as the cabs have GPS anyways. In saying that would I be safe buying it from http://www.e-prance.com/car-dvr/car-dvr ... ision.html

I noticed it runs on the Novatek processor? Whats the difference between the LS version and the GT version? Which one is more reliable?

this one will give you better quality video than the one from DX you were looking at

Yes, i have both and i can confirm that.
Especially night vision is far far better in gt300w, and wider view which is important too.
Cant really say anything about dod product because i dont have one.

Is FoxOffer a good site to get the GT300W from?
Are they selling genuine camera's?

Ambarella Full HD 1080P H.264 Dashboard Car Video Camera GPS Recorder Crash Cam works well except after 6 months the GPS stopped working. The sensor is actually looking for the signal as seen on the display, however, no matter the location, the camera just continues to search and is not picking up the signal.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

Thanks

Hi! I have fake GS1000. This is the one with Orange menu, firmware version 20120929. I bricked it...

could you tell where did you buy this fake camera ? was it ebay ?

Just found this site, and while this thread is obviously old, I thought it might be helpful to mention that I got stuck with a fake orange (201201122 -- not a typo... that's how it reads), purchased from Fasttech dot com, in March, 2013, sku 1271804. It's always been pretty crappy, with intermittent reboots and stalls to the recording.

Hi!

What kind of GS1000 is this?
