Are there any suggestions on how to mount just the lens to the windscreen. I'm using the 8" extension table and beyond sticky tape I haven't got any ideas as the lens unit along is quite small with only the back being flat. Some kind of obtuse angled L-shaped piece of plastic could be good?

Use the "suction cup" mount

Works a treat.

You mean something like this?

I only made the 'ears' as I use 2 lenses, if you only use a single lens then use just the centre part, ie just get some ally strip approx 25mm wide) & bend it to suit your screen rake. the lense mounts to the vertical bit you make with the lense upside down to my pictures & the ribbon folding back underneath.
The lense is mounted using the original screws on the back of the lense (M2) with the holes at 18.2mm centres. How high up the vertical bit you mount it is dictated by the screen rake to give enough clearance, the lower you go the more room you get (eg wide angle which is longer lense). You can work it out if your inclined with trigonometryo_O

Hello

some exoxy glue and matt black paint :)
power from interrior light, video output to 2-DIN DVD player.

this installation can't be seen from outside car, from front and from sides, so i can leave it for all the time, and do not worry about thieves.

easily removing and installing without readjusting position by one hand, and TF-card can be removed quickly too.

almost not seen from driver's place.
tint on windshield not disturbing - all interesting events occurs lower, traffic lights and signs can be seen through, and it helps when sun is low (mornings and evenings).

That's the perfect solution for me. Did you buy the housing behind the mirror or did it come with the car (as in the Renault Twingo mount)?

Thanks.

Thanks sofaspud that's great. Metal work is a little above my pay grade :) but I'll look at see if I can find something I can fashion up in a similar manner.

If anyone has any other ideas re-purposing anything that would be great. I might do a trip to the hardware store and have a look and see what they've got and if it would be suitable.

I just purchased the mobius and I would like to use a magnet mount. The top of my mirror is flat and wide enough so I would like to mount it there. I was thinking of securing a rare earth magnet directly to the unit, as well as my mirror which will allow me to be able to swivel the camera left or right if needed to capture something out my side windows.

My only concern is magnets being so close to the camera internal components. Has anyone experienced any ill effects from this? Could it possibly damage / erase the micro SD card? The circuit boards? I plan on having this one facing the inside of the car. Should I just use adhesive to secure the magnets? Would it be better to mount a thin metal strip on the camera and just use one magnet mounted on the top of the mirror? My main concern is damaging the camera.

I do use the twin lock tape quite a bit, however I wanted something I can do a quick swivel left to right if I need to. That's why I was thinking round magnets. Small, low profile, and they will swivel on each other. But I definitely don't want to damage the cam. I do have some magnets that are only magnetic on one side (top or bottom) but they are not very strong. I don't think they will work very well.

Cool...thanks, I'm sure he will chime in soon!!!

Below is the easiest solution for 360 degree rotatable and quick mount / dismount

Further to Post #16 ( http://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/mobius-mounting-solutions.2654/#post-31371 ), I installed my second Mobius B today in the back of the car...

CIMG6337.JPG CIMG6335.JPG

I used clear double-sided 3M Mounting Tape to attach the Mobius mount to the headlining. See http://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/3m-mounting-tape-£2-49-at-lidl-uk-supermarket.5264/ for further details. My car has a second power socket in the rear, so no problems with power supply.

You can see from the following video frame grab that the mounting location isn't ideal for the optimum rear view, however, it's good enough for my purposes.

Mobius is in the best location to benefit from the rear wiper keeping the glass clean, & it doesn't interfere with my rear view.

What about a second layer of mounting tape on the front half of the Mobius to tilt the camera down a few degrees from the same position?
