Powerucc Panorama2

Car record player shows "No GPS". I have the GPS antenna installed correctly and it shows my current speed in the videos.

I have upgraded the firmware to 1.08.05 but that hasn't solved the issue.
Good afternoon. My advice is to contact the dealer. If possible change GPS receiver. Ousley will not help to change to the new Panorama 2. I have over 6 months of work have no such problems.

Hello,

Is there a reason GPS data is not being shown/recorded to the files? Im using Registrator Viewer B to view the videos and it shows no GPS data.

The current speed is being recorded and is viewable in the video.

Firmware 1.08.03

How are you importing the data into registratorviewer? The best way is to copy the registratorviewer exe file directly to root directory of the sd card and it will automatically import all video and GPS data when you open the program.

Also there's no longer any reason to use the beta version of registratorviewer. The Panorama2 compatibility is now built into the most recent non-beta version.

I started using the beta version because the normal one did not pick up the GPS data.

I considered $20 USD for the suction cup might be a little high, but once I received it I had no regrets—it is absolutely a quality piece.

shpkorea was a pleasure to do business with, and the package arrived 7 days after I had placed my order (plus an additional 2 days of it being lost at my local post office...grr).

Recommended in all aspects, based on my experience.

Cheers!

Don't know if this was mentioned already and I missed it, but I'm planning to hardwire power in two different cars for the cam. For that, I needed barrel connectors. They are 3.4 or 3.5mm outside diameter, 1.3mm inside, and about 8.9mm long. I found a couple of 1m cables with the correct end on ebay, "DC Power Jack 3.5x1.35mm Female to Male Plug Cable". The seller, may201006, shipped reasonably fast.

Hope this helps. If you brick your car or your cam, please don't blame me.

yeah the plug part number is 35135 was used on Nokia phones for a long time, same connector we're using

Hello, all! I'm currently using a few years old "HD720P DVR007" and am considering going 1080p.

The thing I value most with dash cams is reliability. I don't need any fancy features as long as I can depend on the camera to record each trip and won't freeze, hang, make corrupt files or any other surprises for me.

So Chinese no-name cams are not something I would like to own again (briefly owned the "Mouse DVR" but it constantly froze/crashed even after some battery compartment tweaks and firmware updates), but this Panorama2 looks interesting.

Two questions for you...

1. How is the overall reliability (with firmware v1.08.03)? I need to know if I can count on the camera to start/stop recording many months in a row without glitching out on me. I'm not going to use a SanDisk SD card but most likely a Transcend one since they work better in these things.
2. Can the display be turned off while driving? Hopefully there's a permanent setting for that since I don't need any bright lights shining in my face while concentrating on the road.

Thanks so much!

It has been reliable for me but there are two things that I've noticed:
1. The manufacturer recommends formatting the SD card frequently. I think that the recommendation is once a week. I've been formatting once a month or so without trouble.
2. I live in Canada and when the temperature dips below 0C (32F) when the camera starts from cold I see a few horizontal lines like static. That goes away after the car interior warms up. I'm not sure what the optimal operating temperature is so keep in mind that it may be an issue at low temperatures as with most electronics. There may also be an issue when it's hot outside due to green-house effect when the interior temperature can reach very high numbers. Again, that would affect a lot of other devices, not just the camera.

The display turn-off time is programmable. You won't have an issue there.

Thanks for that. But - whoa whoa - why would one need to format SD card so frequently?

That's sounds like maintenance and that's exactly what I wouldn't want to do with my dash cam (and currently don't do with my current one and all is fine).

you don't need to do it all, it's just preventative maintenance more than anything

I wonder when we get a firmware upgrade :)

Higher bitrate would be great with support for 64GB

I think the best thing about this camera is it's reliability. That's why the Powerucc forum isn't too active. We get the camera and it just works. I also have a Mini 0801 and that forum has literally thousands of posts and 100+ page threads because it's finicky and unreliable.

I would still like a fw update to address the clock resetting with GPS though. Otherwise I've pretty much forgotten the camera is even there because it requires no attention.

I had always suspected that the format was because the 'hit detector' is quite sensitive (even on its least sensitive setting), so could clog up the card with too many old saved clips. (I ended up turning mine off.)
