Street Guardian SGZC12RC Remote Lens, Sony Exmor IMX322, WDR

Hi. I noticed that there is a led near the lens. Is it blinking during recording and can it be turned off? I ask this because is OK to blink during driving but not OK during parking (if using the motion detection) since will attract attention on the camera. Thanks!

That's a good suggestion, and it's on the wish list. (no promises/ETA) Just stick a piece of black electrical tape over it for now.

For those that have purchased this Dashcam, have any of you had any issues with them? Especially any heat related issues?

these cams are panorama and street guardian, not blackvue, no heat issues here.

This is panorama cam, they are made to be exposed on heat and sustain it. X1 is set it and forget it, no issues what so ever.

Coupla questions for those in the know:
- Is the built-in GPS still not available with the current version of the X1 or has that changed for the next shipment? If not, any word on the eta on that?

- Can an external GPS unit be plugged into the X1?

- And lastly, without GPS, what would maintain date/time accuracy on this unit for those not interested in the whole connecting to the car battery/motion diction mode?

no GPS at this stage, no ETA as yet

will keep time without GPS, you need to manually set it initially though

That's too bad. I have to scratch this camera off my list as it has too many things going against it, particularly the size of the head unit, its limit to one cam, and the non-GPS (the first two of which I was willing to tolerate/workaround, but no GPS option/workaround means its shortcomings far outweigh its advantages). Perhaps this unit needed to wait another 9-12 months before being released where those things could have been addressed, including things like more sensible/L-shaped connectors right out of the box, black mount/ring, etc.

Also, as others have said, the idea of incorporating a radar detector into this unit is beyond unappealing to me. There are two companies that have toiled for years to do radar detection correctly: Escort and V1 (I prefer the latter) and that's not something that I would entrust to anyone else right now, particularly a dash cam manufacturer that likely outsources it from someone who doesn't do it well to begin with.

So, if the manufacturer is willing to forget the radar nonsense, build a far slimmer head unit with built-in GPS and allow at least a 2 cam connection, I'll be the first in line with $399 USD.

the built in radar detector cams are very popular in a couple of markets, it was built with that use in mind

martin, I want those L-shaped USB cables. please post a link?

and let me know how it works when your camera is actually mounted against the glass. I'm hoping your angled cables don't rub/push against the glass.

Abarth, these mini cable extensions with the L-connector do fit perfectlyimage.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg
under the glass ;-). It's almost like the way it should have come from the factory. I connected them at both ends of my microUSB cable because they're also sweet at the head unit. I put a 1/2" shrink tube over the connection to make them more permanent.

Here's the link from Amazon. You'll notice that it says it is an OTG charging cable but you'll closer at the reviews many say it doesn't work great as a charging cable but a great data transfer cable (welcome to the Internet!). So, I took a chance and bought a couple. I have plugged it in and it works.

There's a couple of different versions/sellers of this cable around online I have seen.

Is this cable shielded ?, Amazon specs don't say anything about that.

I have no idea if it is shielded. Other than taking it apart, how can I tell?

Some may have a marking on the cable "shielded", some shorter cables might not fit this writing depending on from in what point was "shielded"-printed cable cut from big cable roll. Some re-sellers know if those cables are shielded or not, but many just sell and have no technical clue. Manufacturer always knows if it shielded or not, but there are not many manufacturers out there who sells online. The only option is to cut and look inside. But if it works for you without interference, then it not a big deal for you to know it it shielded or not, but for some other people might be a challenge where other electronics devices or wiring may affect a signal. So for now it is just test n try.

I will ask the seller and look on the cable. I will let you know.

Another question for the group. Should I put a 5A fuse in my add-a-fuse tap or 10AM for power? You can also get 3A as well.

Here's a photo of the extension L cable with tech lingo that I don't understand. image.jpg

Some manufacturers using cables with specs printed and often if its shielded, they do add writing "shielded" on the cable, but not always. The only way to know is to cut and look inside. Now I am testing a cables from different factories and some has only specs printed without word "shielded" and some are just plain black, with no writings at all. I did cut cables deliberately to look inside and be sure. They both have braided shielding.
I think if its works for you with no intereference then there is no point to cut.
