VIOFO A119S Modified Firmware MODs Archive

Thanks Dadi_T, the same route comparison is very helpful.
Your footage alone shows the lower 7g Saturation does look better, but it seems still too high, especially on those eye-bleeding yellow cabs! Need more similar test footage from others under variety of lighting conditions to determine how much Saturation to change.

the OLD v1.01 .
The original v1.01 had Hot Pixel Mapping disabled, no Parking Mode, no Startup Delay, few bugs, but it had a huge plus, unique Contrast, Brightness, White Balance & Gamma levels. I've now uploaded to Beta MODs a new folder Beta Combos 1.01 which contains updated v1.01 IQ revisions to compare against v2.61 versions. My prediction is v1.01 will beat v2.61 at night. Let the Day & Night Battle begin!

Ok, so why not integrated this usefull features like boot delay and parking mode with old firmware and new mod's?!
Boot delay and parking mode has no image quality interferences, no?
So, what's the problem, if the v 1.01 is a better start'up for IQ? Use v 1.01 for starting point IQ, but include this usefull features.
It's hard to locate this features? Just asking.

I listed the features V1.01 doesn't have so everyone doesn't freak out when Parking Mode is missing from Menu, then you freak out because I listed it LOL!
Firmware MODs can only change data values in binary files cannot remove or add a single byte, so if the code for Parking Mode is missing cannot insert. Logic suggests to copy the image control settings and use in v2.61 BUT! V1.01 is so old almost all data tables are different making value comparisons useless. Instead I go old school and search all similar data structures for patterns to match the feature we want to hack. I have three ways to track down these hidden IQ controls, and following up on each, the last is to crack the Novatek NT96660 SDK code or reverse engineer to open it completely, others have been working on that for over a year.
Its a game I plan to win soon, been 25 days, accomplished more than expected in that short time.

BCHobbyist,
Your modding so quick, can't keep up.
For reference here are (4) videos with MOD 7e, default except 30pfs
1&2 downtown early morning bright sun.
3&4 Country road afternoon.

Edge detection is great, you can freeze every plate oncoming or passing.
**Sorry about the right edge, the CPL shifted and I did not see it.**

Have to load up 7g and see how it goes.
Thanks for all the work

Update: anyone working on the v1.01 to v2.61 comparison please delete all v1.01's MODs download fresh batch, the Camera Version Stamp string was too long and blocked the next custom string.
FWA119S_MOD-7K_v1.01+27Mbps+IQ.bin
FWA119S_MOD-6K_v1.01+25Mbps+IQ.bin
FWA119S_MOD-6Ka_v1.01+24Mbps+IQ.bin
had to adjust sharpness table, everything else the same as 7g. All future MOD file names will exclude values.

perhaps just abbreviate the codes would be better

Will start uploading clips again tomorrow or Monday. I'm doing a bit of an overhaul. I'm remounting the camera in a different position, changing the angle to 40/60 and adding a CPL. I want to minimise the impact that the sky has on the picture from now on. We'll see if it bites me for night video though.

Here is a day footage made with MOD 7g based 1.01, everything's default except 1080 30fps.

Thanks for using the same route as last clips, covers everything. Did you see the windshield Tint on that Mercedes CFLV-439 ? Can tell the IQ is very different with v1.01. The night footage really show it well. Sharpness needs a boost. Download the replacement copy for any further tests you do.

Sure, I do it on purpose, I go there twice every day :)
I didn't see the windshield tint on the Mercedes.
Here a 2 new day time footages, also MOD7-1.01, but this time 1080 60fps.

Will drive later today, when it will be dark.

Not sure if it's my system but those 2 clips are stuttering and jumping bad.
stutter is from the 60fps, most viewers/players cause play back stutter, its normal at 60fps.

delete that 7g v1.01 firmware and download the revised one, you'll notice MOD-7G not 7g, made a few minor changes to sharp(phase1).

If you're using VLC player, check your "Hardware-accelerated decoding" settings. On some computers, turning it on helps as it offloads some of the work to the GPU. On other systems, it actually makes things worse.

In VLC > Tools > Preferences > Input / Codecs > Hardware-accelerated decoding

If it is ON, try turning it off. If it is OFF, try turning it on (set to automatic). Hit save, close VLC, then try the video again.

Disabled Hardware Accerlerated decoding was on Auto. looks ok now and I think my system can handle it, runs 4k@60hz on a 65" monitor hence why I notice any little glitch :)

Yeah it's weird how VLC is sometimes. It might not have anything to do with how powerful or weak a system is, it might just be that certain combos of hardware (or even brands), along with software versions and drivers, just don't play nice together when using VLC. Your system can clearly handle it. Glad that was the fix though. It's usually the first thing I'll suggest to people using VLC and having playback issues.
