VIOFO's A119S

I am always playback from the card in my reader, only problem i encounter once in a while are the file will not launch and then the computer chew at it for a minute or so with nothing happening.
But then in try #2 it work just fine, and when the playback are going i dont see any problems, i think this are a win 10 issue seem to recall it also happening on files on a harddrive.

I have always done it this way looking for the files / incidents i need, but then i transfer file to computer for editing and so on.

I've always had better results transferring whatever is on the memory card to a folder on my computer and playing back from there. Perhaps it depends on how fast your particular card is? Once in a while I'll play back directly from a memory card if I'm in a hurry but I've always found it's better to allow the computer to play video files directly off the hard drive for maximum performance.

With my old USB 2.0 card reader i was having problems too, but with the "new" USB 3.0 one things have been working okay.
But for sure it is highly recommended to move files to computer hard drive in most cases,,,,, as we have seen so often in here.

If you already haven't done so.
I would reset to Default and Format the sd card one more time,
If that doesn't work at least you've given it your best shot.

This one was meant to go here, with a bit of a ranting on such LED light-bars. Being the A119S handled it so well...

Utterly useless! No wonder he switched on the high-beam as well.

Totally illegal for on-road use. I have two on my trucks and would never blind someone with some 45,000 lumens. Many LEO will make you install a cover or get ticket.

Out of curiosity checked out the same footage from the M2, did almost or rather equally well. Neither got the plate though.

Only reason I'd shared this was because under such blinding light coming from the rear, I remember seeing mostly complete blowouts from the M1 and previous firmware versions of the M2. Ends up looking like a ball of light coming towards the lens, even when the distance closes.

Newbie here!Have a few issues with my new A119S (FW 2.2 |EVO+ 64 GB| WDR On|1080p60|No CPL)
  • Unable to capture any license plates even in good lighting conditions (tried playing with frame-rate and WDR)
  • Getting lens flare at night (tried cleaning windscreen and lens with microfiber cloth)
  • Weird purple spot that moves around after each reboot (annoying but not major)

You won't get a license plate all the time. Depends on factors such as lighting conditions, distance, angle of capture, your vehicle's speed, the other vehicle's speed, direction of travel etc etc...

You mean streetlights and taillights flaring/haloing, right? If I understand correctly what @jokiin had mentioned in a different thread, reduction of flaring/haloing via firmware has a adverse affect on video quality. Not worth the compromise.

What weird purple spot? Video?

Anything over 60 km/h even under street/road lighting is a miss.

The purple spot is present in the pictures uploaded in my previous post.

As mentioned you won't get license plates all the time. What you can get is license plates at a distance (most of the time), entails adding another camera with a telephoto lens. More details here - https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/mobius-telephoto-dashcam.31523/

The purple spot is most probably a reflection coming off a lit button from inside your car, maybe from the console area.

I found bumping up the EV to compensate for the CPL just made the footage worse.

Night Footage - F.W V. 2.4 - 1080p @ 60fps, WDR - On, CPL - Yes. Low beam & High beam headlights.

No X’s, screen corruption or any other stability issues in the last 6 months, consistent performance since firmware version 2.2.

My front and rear cameras (SG9665GC and A119S) are hardwired using a Vico-Power Plus, so if needed I can leave both recording while the car is parked. Had them recording 24x7 for 7 and 9 days during my two out-of-state trips three months ago. FWIW both performed flawlessly!

Would I recommend the A119S?

Based solely on my experience with this unit, yes.

Based on recent reports about units not being able to get past the VIOFO logo and partial screen corruption reports still coming. Reliability wise, your mileage may vary.

My pick from the A119 series - A119 V2. IMO it’s a safer buy. Better daytime quality and good low-light performance as well.
