Do people really keep turning the mic on and off? For me, a dvr under the dash would be able to pick up my indicator relay clicking and, being under the dash, would afford passengers some privacy. but for anyone that wants a mic to record & the ability to turn on/off, why not also provide a socket for external mic & then provide (at cost) a suitable external mic with on/off button? (and maybe include an additional button for saving a file?).could be done at a reasonable upcost and I'm sure there's appeal, but there's also a lot of challenges to getting the design right, sounds appealing having a camera up front and hiding the DVR away, but then how about the microphone, how about when you want to turn the microphone off or on while recording, or what about when you want to manually save a file, and if you want GPS, stuff that we take for granted when everything is up on the window within easy reach
it's something I'm looking at but it's not really that straightforward
Although, to be honest, I've never had a need for that - my DR32 will just about fit a full day's filming onto a 32GB card & I review files at the end of the day.
Did you mention the GPS because it needs a window-mounted aerial? Again, this could be offered as part of an upgrade?
If you want GPS, buy the extension pack which would include window mount aerial plus firmware upgrade?
