After a few rides with the new (and my first ever) cam I am sure I bought the right product (feature wise and the support over here). However, there are a few small glitches which I would like to get out of the way:
1) I am a Mac user and run the datakam player provided on the SG website. I noticed that a recording over several hours was not grouped in a single item - there are gaps in the recording. I ran registrator viewer in Parallels/Win7 which does a better job at grouping the individual files - and which also marks the missing pieces via gray bars. It seems the cam does not record 5min intervals reliably. Some gaps are just a few seconds long. Sometimes more than a minute is missing. Here is a link to a screenshot of the file list in datakam player: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7bc0mp8aaqt5ql/SG_20170317.jpg?dl=0
I looked again at the recording of the sensor calibration. Here I have a perfect row of 5:01 files for more than 2.5h. Two differences compared to the car: GPS and power supply. In the car I use either https://www.amazon.de/gp/B00M3PI1M4 or https://www.amazon.de/gp/B01KWYB1JM, followed by a 3m USB cable (next week it will be 5m as 3m is not long enough) to the cam. The power supplies have 2.4A per port, so I guess current should be no problem, right? Could the length of the USB cable lead to a significant voltage drop? Would that lead to the issues I encounter here? I would not blame the card as the calibration was recorded flawlessly.
2) The max speed displayed in both applications is 184km/h - that's fast but not fast enough for our autobahn Is that a bug or a feature?
3) Rather a comment than a question: I first thought I should use the thick (wedge) bracket but using that together with the cable cover makes it almost impossible to plug in the GPS and power cords. So I went back to the thin bracket. It just fits to my windscreen angle.
Cheers,
Torsten
