Used provided frame to mount as a dashcam using a suction cup mount from another dashcam and used reversed (upside down) image setting.
The frame has holes for OK/shutter, mini USB charging and settings button along with few smaller ones for mic/led etc.

DSC03001-SJ7000-Git1.jpg
DSC03002-SJ7000-Git1.jpg
DSC03003-SJ7000-Git1.jpg

I drove around town but in a hurry, I forgot to format the card and it was full with video from another camera so it couldn't overwrite.
Will drive around in a bit.
It was very cloudy today anyways...maybe it'll be Sunny later.

Here's how Git1 is mounted in the vehicle:
Side-by-side with Lukas LK-9370WD and SJ7000.
Git1 is using a sticky mount while the SJ7000 is using a suction cup mount with tripod screw.
From the front:
20151004_133210-Git1-Lukas-LK-9370-SJ70000.jpg
(Yes, Lukas has both UV and CPL attached).
From inside:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Folder and files:
Folder is pretty straight forward.
DCIM>MOVIE
File names have date time so easy to find particular a clip.

Git1 Folder and Files.PNG
File size and VBR:
3 minute video clip is around 383 MB in size.
The overall VBR is very high for Novatek based camera @ 17.8 mbps.
Video VBR: 16.6 Mbps @ 30 fps.
Audio VBR: 512 Kbps @ 1 channel.

Daytime screenshots:
Today is cloudy as well but there were few times with sunshine.

Video quality is very good.
All areas, including corners are in excellent focus and sharp.

Daytime screenshots continued...
Lots of dashboard reflection against the sunlight which is hard to fix without CPL filter.

Daytime Videos: @gitup , here are few daytime clips.
Audio is very loud and clear but at few places, there is some heavy bass distortion.

1.
Cloudy day: From streets to mall.

2. Some sunshine here:
I was gunning to match the speed so the cars behind don't have to slow down...
King Soopers busy parking lot at the end to see license plates on both sides.

3. Around the residential streets:
Audio distortion @ 2 minute for little bit and goes back normal.
Windows were closed so it's not the wind and it's running on battery.

Wi-Fi app and connection for Git1:
To connect the Git1 via Wi-Fi, press and hold the settings button for few seconds until it chimes few times and shows wi-fi is on
Then, you need an app to connect to the wi-fi access point.

The manual didn't mention what app to use so i searched and found FinalCam works so downloaded it and installed.

Finalcam-app.PNG

Open the app and click on + to add camera:
Screenshot_2015-10-04-18-58-28.png

Click on the GITUP**** access point, enter password and click 'Add':
Screenshot_2015-10-04-18-58-54.png

Once connected, you'll see live view of the camera:
There are a lot of features on this app to change settings of the camera.
The top left looks like motion detection and the one below that looks like time laps but not sure.
@gitup , do you know what they are?
Other settings on the left are for photo and video mode.
On the right, there is an icon to show battery level and other icons below that to access saved clips for playback and download.
There is a camera settings icon on the bottom right.
In the center bottom bar, there are icons for exposure(or awb, need to confirm), photo, video record, mic and volume.
Screenshot_2015-10-04-19-04-03.png

The camera setting icon on the bottom right allows changing various camera features like camera wi-fi name, password, video quality, including formatting the card:
Screenshot_2015-10-04-19-05-14.png

Advanced settings for loop recording options:
Screenshot_2015-10-04-19-05-34.png

Screenshot_2015-10-04-19-06-30.png

Wi-Fi lag is pretty good compared to some other Wi-Fi action cameras.

I think some other app out there can work like those for SJCAM but I haven't tried them on this.

If you want to add a CPL to remove the reflections then the Git1 takes a standard GoPro filter adaptor. (Not talking about the ones for the waterproof cases) The 52mm version is a nice size for general use, not sure if it needs to be that big though.

Hmm... I see they also have 37mm that doesn't look too big:

May need to invest on one.
So it just snug fits on the lens housing?
Secure enough for action camera?

Guess it depends on the action! It's secure enough for me, if it is a little loose then add a small piece of electrical tape on the inside, the Git1 has a flat on the top of the lens barrel so you can slide it on with the tape at the top and then twist to lock it in place.

Those 37mm ones can darken the corners with some lenses and filters, not sure about the Git1.
For dashcam use it may be possible to find a CPL that will fit directly instead of via the adaptor, that could be a lot smaller without causing issues.

Okay this Git1 is growing on me. Few more daytime screenshots from video:

Signboards on both sides are very sharp and clear and mountains far away are also in great focus:
2015_1008_082702_003.MOV_20151008_204054.156.jpg

Same here:
2015_1008_083002_004.MOV_20151008_204212.218.jpg

Overexposed sky due to shadows from buildings but very good video of the streets/vehicles:
2015_1008_085701_013.MOV_20151008_204403.750.jpg

This is right after the above screenshot and it quickly adjusts Sky's exposure when there is sunlight:

Low light and Night screenshots:
The Sony IMX322 sensor in Git1 is very good in low light/night.
Git1 probably has the best night video among all my dashcams.
Need to compare the Git1 against Lukas that uses same sensor to see which ones better but Git1's night performance is very nice and I guess it'll be better due to higher VBR.

I was surprised by it too. When I was doing the battery life test, someone turned off the lights in the room, but sunlight coming in through a window in the next room (around the corner, and no windows in my office where the camera was) was more than enough to still clearly make out the digital clock I had the camera pointed at.

There is a little bit of motion blur in some of those night time images, you need to try GitUp's new starlight cam :D

Glad to hear that. We spent too much time for choosing the lens.

For most of action cams, it use the F2.8 lens, Git1 also use a F2.8 lens, for night video, if using F1.8 or F2.0 lens, maybe the night performance can be improved.
The current F2.8 lens is the best one among all of the lens we tested.
